Panorama Magazine Sponsors Contest Panorama, Polk Counly High School's literacy magazine, recently sponsored a writing contest. The competition was open to students in grades nine through 12, and three winners were selected. First place went to Anthony Womack for a story titled, First Discovery. The tale is set in outer space as humans arc looking for a new planet to populate. Womack's surprise ending makes his story quite thought-provoking. Second place honors went to Scott Culbreth. His story. One Last Memory, is a sensitive look at a family's emotions as they prepare to move away from their home. Third place winner was Amy Edwards. Her entry, entitled The Doors, is a poem about the girl who loves but is not loved in return. Panorama sponsors programs throughout the year to encour age student creativity. An art contest began at Polk Central in mid-February, and winners will be announced later this month. -Community Reporter Engaged Mr. and Mrs. James Michael Gantt of Columbus aimounce the engagement of their daugh ter, Jill Suzanne, to James Ken neth Baity.
