Education meets tonight at 6:30
in the Stearns Education Center
board room.
Registration for children who

the Landrum Civic Center.
The annual Polk County
Community Foundation Dutch
Treat luncheon will be held

7:30 to 8:30. All Democrats and

To Dedicate
New House
The new residence of the
Roger Anderson family on
North Shamrock St ’" Tryon
will be dedicated at 2.30 p.m.
Sunday. April 26, at the Habit
Resale Store, it was announced
by Jim Jackson, chairman of the
P Thermal Belt Habitat for
Humanity completed construe
tion of the house prior to sus
pending new-house construc
tion in early December. It is the
19th home built by local volun
leers for working needy fami
lies since the beginning of the
project in 1984.
There will be the usual popu
lar potluck supper, a featured
speaker and other entertain
ment. The general public is
invited, but those attending are
requested to bring a salad, main
dish or dessert or sufficient
quantity to serve at least their
own family.
Details of the program will be
announced shortly.

from William and Beverly Ford

After Larry returns from his

years, he and his wife plan to

Dean Campbell, veteran
director and actor, has a feat
ured role in The Diary of Anne
Trank, the play that Tryon
Little Theater will present at the
Fine Arts Center Apr. 30, May
1, 2, and 3.
Talking about the play with
your reporter, he says: "I have
never seen The Diary of Anne
Frank on stage. I had only the
movie as a reference point. To
my complete surprise, when I
read the script before audition
ing, I realized that the play is
very unlike the film.
"It is a wonderful portrait of a
wacky group of people, thrown
together by dire circumstances,
living a humorous, yet poig
nant existence. Cramped
together for a long period of
time, the all-too-human attrib
utes of each character come to
the surface and make marvelous
