Tryon Daily Bulletin, Frl., Apr. 17,1992 Wolverines Come From Behind To Win The Polk County baseball team made it two in a row over conference opponents Tuesday afternoon with an exciting 11-10 victory over Edneyville. The Wolverines came from behind to get the win in the bottom of the 7th inning. Edneyville scored in the top half of the first when after a walk and a stolen base, the Jackets hit an RBI single. The second inning proved to be a big one for Edneyville as they scored five runs on four hits. Errors hurt the Polk County defense. The Wolverines picked up three runs in the bottom of the second when Jerry Lockhart singled, Tommy Thomas singled and Kelly Ruff singled to load the bases. Then Josh Hoots got two RBI's and Kip Stokes one RBI to make the score 6-3 Edneyville. In the bottom the third, Eric Lookadoo led off with a home run. Tommy Thomas and Kelly ruff singled. On a wild pitch. Tommy went to third. With runners on first and third, Josh Hoots picked up an RBI to pull within one run of the Yellow- jackets. In the fourth, Edneyville scored two runs on four singles giving them an 8-5 lead. The Wolverines tied the score in their half of the fourth. Jerry Lockhart led off with a home- run over the RF fence. Kelly Ruff walked, Barry Foy singled, Kip Stokes made it to first on an enor by the shortstop to load the bases. Sean Cunningham then hit a two RBI single to tie the game at 8. With two outs in the bottom of the sixth, Kelly Ruff put one over the fence to give Polk County a 9-8 advantage. In the seventh, Edneyville picked up two runs on two hits to take a 10-9 lead. Kip Stokes and Sean Cun- JUN CTIQ N ningham led off the inning with walks. Larry Fagan hit into a fielder's choice advancing the runners to second and third. Edneyville intentionally walked Eric Lookadoo and Jerry Lockhart got the game winning hit lifting the Wolverines to an 11-10 victory. Larry Fagan recorded the win by pitching the last two innings in relief for Polk County.- "The seniors have made the difference in this team," said coach Hopkins. "They were down 6-0 and came back and down a run in the seventh and came back to get the win. Their attitude is good and they are playing with confidence."
