The class of 1992 will be Tryon High and Polk Central's last graduating classes. The alumnae and alumni of Tryon High School are planning to be out in force. The former students will be seated in the visiting team bleachers, behind the Class of 1992, and will lead the first chorus of the school song. Hub Arledge, who has been ■working to see that this final graduation ceremony is given some extra recognition, said he wasn't sure just what year the first class graduated from Tryon High School. Rusty Gosnell, 7, was wondering who the statue in front of the Polk (Continued On Back Page) TRYON, N.C. 28782 Godlock Breaks Regional Records Karen Godlock of Polk County broke three records and finished first in four races dur ing the Western Regional 1-A/2-A track meet held Saturday at Hendersonville High School. Godlock broke regional records in the 3200-meter run (11:34.9), the 1600-meter run (5:12.5) and the 800-meter run (2:21.3) and she was a member of the winning 3200-meter relay team which set a new record (10:15.3). Pat McEntyre of Polk County won first place in the 400-me- ter dash (1:01.9). The top four finishers in each race advance to the state track meet this Saturday in Chapel Hill. In addition to Godlock and McEntyre, the following track athletes from Polk County qualified for the state track meet were: Otis Miller in the long jump and 400-meter dash; Duron Davis in the triple jump; Brendon Palmer in the pole vault; Seth Peoples in the 1600-meter and 3200-meter runs; and Jenny McGrane in the 1600-meter and 800-meter runs. Local Swimmers Win State Members of the Barracudas Synchronized Swimming Team from Tryon took awards at a recent state competition in Hendersonville. Coached by Brian Walker and Virginia Walker, the following Barracudas placed in the com petition: Erin Woodward was first in novice 8-years-oId; Katie Coleman was first on B team for 9-ycar olds; Cali Link took second in B team for 9's; Rachel Askarinam took first in B team for 10-year olds; Kristy Atkins was first in B team for 12-year Bill French's number was given incorrectly in a story Friday about the Tryon United Methodist Church's Tag Sale.
