You've looked, hunted
through the phone book trying
to find the chamber of com
merce listing. Why don't they
just list it under the doggone 'C'
for chamber?
Well, now the Tryon Thermal
Belt Chamber of Commerce has
done just that. In fact, it will be
listed in the white and yellow
pages under Chamber of Com
merce, as well as under the Polk
County heading.
And for purists, the chamber
also will keep its listings using
its full and proper name. Who
could ask for anything more?

Although currently under

of art forms in addition to con
temporary art.
Mindy Eisenbrown is serving
as the coordinator for the gal

Club At Red Fox
Bid Falls Short,
High Bidder Unknown
Someone else had more cash
and a strong desire to own
Red Fox Country Club.
That's the message which
went out Friday to members of
a local group which had sought
to purchase the country club.
"We are not the highest bid
der," wrote Bill McLennan,
membership and communica
tions director for The Club at
Red Fox. "We are disappointed
to report there was a higher cash
bid."
Bids were opened July 3, and
bidders were notified of the
result Friday.
Alan Fleming is the Atlanta
real estate agent handling the
sale for the Resolution Trust
Corp. (RTC), the federal sav
ings and loan bailout organiza
tion. The RTC took over Red
Fox Country Club after the
N.C. Federal Savings and Loan
failed in March 1990. N.C.
Federal held a $2.8 million
mortgage on Red Fox.
Fleming said Friday that
although the winner had been
notified, he could not release
the name of the high bidder
until after a purchase contract is
signed this Wednesday.
The Club at Red Fox, a group
of area golfers and club mem

Fox Country Club to private
club status. They were con

who were considering making
