A letter doled Carthageno, October, 12 1E49,

Business was slowly recovering Ita former life

awful ravages all through, not only this province

suspended, politics forgotlon or unheeded, and tne
greatest fright seemed to have seized on nil. Evrry

journals, which teem with nothing but te "cholera''
and its rapid approach. It ia much to bt foared that
this city will be doomed 10 a mortality equal to that
which has visited the other provinces nndcltics of (lie

scarce, and so in the Capital. This warn may be at

The Dreadful Murder In Connecticut.
The correspondent of the Boston Traveller, wri

a 1 rial in that city :
The trial of Henry L. F.Hle, for murder, which
took place In this city last week, exelted unusual in-tore-it,
in consequence of the unprovoked atrocity of
his crimes. This brutal murder wa another of th
countless tragedie of runs. 1 hsv seldom seen a
person who seemed so completely djinentad and sm
bruted as did tbl Foots. He manifested the most
stupid indifferences st tho trial. When the bloody
garments wer brought into court as proof of bi
guilt, he coolly loek them up one by one, nd exm

could make bul twenty dollars a day now, ns there
