name a few.
The trim coach, who still
looks like he could knock

neaus in ine trenches, said he
hopes to install the veer
offensive in Ram land. "The
veer option is the toughest
offensive there is to stop," he
said. He hopes to use a
multiple offensive and to run
about 65% of the time
Hayes says his philosophy
is, ' 'to eliminate mistakes and
the other team will beat
themselves." He warns,
however, that his team will not
sit on the ball. "I'm a Gemini
and I'm an impatient person,
he said with a sly smile, "but I
believe in making sound
decisions. We'll throw at
man-to-man defenses but notinto
a three-deep zone or
double coverage.
Hayes, who holds a Masters
Degree from North Carolina
A&T University, is already
actively recruiting players for
next season. "I plan to try and
bring in big, quick linemen by
the dozens. I'll also be looking
for linebackers and "quarterbackers
because both are good
athletes and can play more
than one position/7
Hayes says his offensive
line will start with the center,
4'because I was a center
myself/' The new coach
says his first move as
headcoach will be to install his
system with the coaches and
the players.
Clark Gaines, one of Hayes'
best recruits, says Hayes is a
great coach and a fine man
and should be a great head
coach for WSSU.
WSSU Athletic Director
Clarence Gaines said Hayes
has a wealth of experience and
that the young energetic coach
should be a great asset to the
school's Athletic Department.
