days. The northern shorelines
of the lakes thawed and. clear
water is existing at least eight
feet from the banks. You can
believe it, the small fry are
moving into the warmer water
and the winter hungry bass
and crappies are following.

good time to bait those piers
on Badin Lake tit Dixie Shores.
Baiting will get those minnows
and shad in the habit of
feeding at your pier and you
will be assured of some good
crappie and bass fishing.
Fishing under a pier can be
very effective if one uses a
pole with a line somewhat
shorter than usual so you may
drop or poke your bait into
some tight places. You will
need a short line to bring the
catch out immediately. You
wilf not have^4ime?to^ play ^
fish that is caught under a
pier.
If you own the pier you can
r-. hinge a piece of flooring so it
Ican be turned back for fishing
directly under the pier. It is
important that the flooring be

broadcast white corn around a
pier will be certain to attract big
carp. One or two kernels
on a number 6 hook will do the
trick. Make sure one of the
kernels covers the point of the
hook. During Spring, carp will
take a spinner. with a fly
attached, lhe bhyster is a
good lure for Spring Carp.
The children are still good
prospects for buddy fishing.
Kids are always ready to go
fishing~and are more reluctant
to leav? at the end of the day.
Take a kid along this season;
they learn quickly.
