LeGrant Butterfield Is Wed To Mr, LeGrant Miss Vickie Lynn But terfield and Elsworth Leon LpGrant were married at 3 p.m. Saturday in Progres sive Apostolic Church. The Elder Willie Davis, Jf. and Bishop McCall officiated. ; The bride, the daughter of Ms. Bessie M. Butterfield of Mock Street, was graduated from Winston-Salem State University School of Nursing. Mr. LeGrant is the son of Elder and Mrs. Oscar D. LeGrant, Sr. He was graduated from St. Au gustine's College in Ra leigh. He is now serving in- the U.S. Army at Fort Bragg. Mrs. LeGrant's maid of honor was Dorothy Lewis. The bridesmaids were; Mary LeGrant, Delphine Jennings, Pamela Harry, Vera Hart, Gail Gary of Winston-Salem; and Jane LeGrant of Havelock, N.C. The best man was Oscar LeGrant, Sr., the father of the groom. The ushers were Clifford Pitts, Nor- vell Butterfield, Harvey LeGrant, Oscar LeGrant, Jr., Andrew Henry, and Curtis Vaugh, Jr. The flower girl was little Miss Jennifer Jeter of Winston-Salem. The ring- bearer was David LeGrant, the groom’s nephew of Havelock. Following the Friday evening wedding rehear sal, a rehearsal cookout was given by Ms. Bessie Butterfield, the bride’s mother at the home of Mrs. Norvpll Butterfield. The couple will live in Spring Lake. Pic-N~Pay Expands Mobile Operation Charlotte, N.C.-Pic ‘N Pay Stores, Inc. (AMEX), the 356-unit self-service shoe chain, has expanded into the marketing of steel toe safety footwear in mobile units. The annou ncement was made by Alvin E. Levine, presi dent, who noted that a prototype vehicle, called the “Pay-Master Shoe- mobile,’ ’ has already been placed in operation. Mr. Levine said that the Pay-Master could be described as a “traveling shoe store,’’ in which 1,000 pairs of steel toe safety shoes are carrried by prior appointment to an industrial plant, where all personnel, men and wo men, can be fitted on the job. “We are able to display to the employees a full line of steel-toe safety shoes, in a variety of colors and styles and a complete range of sizes. “We are presently in ■the test plase of this new mmketing approach,’’ he said, “and are evaluating current operations and future prospects for the concept. The Pay-Master program, which is being managed by Randy Hun ter of our merchandising staff, will be implement ed, at least in the early stages, exclusively in North and South Carolina. “As pioneers in the self-service shoe store concept 20 years ago. Perk, Mayor of Cleveland; Councilman McCall, City Council; Mrs. Mozelle ^ Moore, President of i Epsilon Chapter and Mra. Catherine Gordon, Gene ral Chairman of the 48tb National Convention The new National Pres ident is Soror Fredda Witherspoon, PhD, of St. Louis, Mo. Dr. Wither spoon is presently the President of the Missouri State N.A.A.C.P. annd President as well as area Director-at-Large of Top Ladies of Distinction. She has received awards from the Mayor of the city for meritorious service on the St. Loiiis Crime Commis sions Board, her coUoege chancellor for ten years of dedicated service, the St. Louis Sentinel newspaper (“Signal Award for Out standing Achievement”) as a dedicated community servant and another for selling $2,000 worth of tickets for the Children’s Benefit Lucheon. Other National officers elected were; Ms. Clarice Brown, 1st National Vice- President; and Mrs. Evelyn Peevy, 2nd Na tional Vice president. Between the number- ous meetings, business and educational, the sorors found time for a night at the races, sightseeing, the glamor ous Rainbow Ball, and what all the truly “best dressed’ ’ Iota women like bet...shopping. Denise Morece Wade became the bride of Aaron Baxter Warner in services * held last Saturday at St. Paul United Methodist Church. The bride, who is the daughter of Mr. & Mrs. William Foy Wade was attended by Miss Marilyn Epps of Atlanta, Georgia. Her bridesmaids were: Iris Davis of Vinehaven, Mass.; Marsha Bass of Cincinnati, Ohio; Eliza beth Macklin of Bronx, N.Y.; Denise Hartsfield of Washington, D.C.; Daphn Burgess and Carolyn Fluitt of Atlanta, Ga.; Thelma Warner of Rocky Mount, Mrs, Carmen Brown of Fayetteville, N.C.
