When a customer chooses to cancel rather than wait longer for the merchandise, the compa ny is required to give a full refund of any money paid within seven working days from the day of receiving the cancellation notice. If the money has been charged, and then the agreement cancelled for reasons of the delay, the company must provide a copy of a credit memoran dum which shows the customer’s account cleared of all related charges within one hilling period. )DA Offers Class Council on Drug wiU be offering a ^tlass on "Drug lotion and Commu- 1 Skills for Par- This class wiU be ; four sessions on sday nights from to 9:00 p.m. beginning September 14, 1977. Not responding to the notice of delay gives the company the right to assume the additional delay—up to 30 days-has been agreed to. However, shipment may not be delayed beyond 30 additi onal days without express consent from the custo mer. If circumstances neces sitate further delays, the consumer always must be so notified, and given the right of cancellation or refund. Rule Does Not Always Apply There are some mail 3915 Country Club RdL 767-0750 order shipments to which the FTC rules does not apply; c.o.d. orders (cash- on-delivery) , or orders with which no advance payment is sent and for which a billing or account charge is not made until shipment is made. Also not covered are mail order services such as photofinishing, seeds and growing plants, magazine orders (except for initial delivery), and “negative option plans" such as those used by some book, record and tape clubs. (Editor’s note: see TIPS FOR CONSUMERS, column #7709, 3/1/77.) The Better Business Bureau reminds consu mers to read mail order contract forms carefully. The 30-day rules does not always apply, but some times time is of the essence-and the FTC rule recognizes that a little knowledge can be helpful. The Four Ps In Business by Naomi C. McLean, CPS Business Writer There are four qualities which are important to a business and they are; 1. Initiative which is the readiness and the ability to begin action, Few people have weii-deve- loped initiative. It is an acquired characteristic. Do you have initiative? How often do you go out of your way to do things on your own account? Do you always have to be prodded? Have you ever started something worth while in which others later joined? 2. Imagination is the quality that lies back of initiative. By imagination we mean constructive and creative thinking which brings into being new ideas—better ways of doing a thing, for example, than the way in which it has always been done. Do you have the imagination that sees the opportunities that lie around you? Are you able to think ahead-to project yourself into the future? 3. Individuality. Are you content to be just one of a crowd? Do you have the urge to be different without being at all eccentric? Are you strong and vigorous enough in your thinking to fight off those influences in the constant attempt to deve lop your own individua lity? 4. Independence. Are you carrying your share of responsibility on the job, Are you the ‘ ‘Let John Do It” kind of person? Do you shy away from taking on responsibihty? Using the FOUR I’s properly concerning any business, yours or work ing for someone in their business— means success directly or indirectly. If you make bad use of any-you will harm your self and others. If you make good use of all regardless, you will be a blessing to yourself and to the community. |E.H. PETREE CO.
