Hallie Mena J. Davis, of 1854 4th Street, died Thursday, June 14th 1979. Funeral services were conducted Monday, June 18th, at 4 p.m., at Hanes C.M.E. Church in\Winston-Salenu N.C. Mrs. Davis was president emeritus of the Carolina Missionary Society of the Christian Methodist Episcopal Church. \She was known throughout the country for her contributions to the field of education and Christian leadership. She was the ^ftdow of J. A. Davis and is survived by three children: Mrs. Vera D. Hooper of Gary, Indiana, Mrs. Florence D. Creque of Winston-Salem, and Mr. John A. Davis, Jr., of Charlotte; three grandchildren, Mrs. Leah Creque-Harris of Atlanta, Georgia, Ms. Halimina Creque of Winston-Salem, and Miss Karen M. Davis of Charlotte. Hooper Funeral Home handled the arrangements. Ruby Shipp-Mills Funeral services were held for Ruby E. Shipp-Mills, 52, of Vlsts, MD on June 13. Mrs. Shipp-Mills is a native of Winston-Salem N.C. and has lived in Vista since 1966. Mrs. Shipp-Mills was a teacher for the Oceanside Unified School District and a member of the Oceanside Teachers Association. Mrs. Shipp-Mills was a member of the \National Education Association, - the \NAACP, the National Teachers Association, and a volunteer Pink Lady at Tri-City Hospital. v ^ She Is survived by five sisters and six brothers. . The \ funeral arrangements were supervised by Oceanside Mortuarv. homas Wright The toneral services for Mr. Thomas Wright, of 1104 Cayuga Streat, was held Thursday, June 14, at The Howard-Robinson Chapel in Winston-Salem, with the Kev. J. W. Gwyn officiating. Mr> Wright died after a two weeks illness at the Whitaker Care Center; Wednesday, Jane 6. Mr. Wright was employed at the Forsyth Country Club before retiring. He was a native of Winston-Salem and had\ resided at the home of Mrs. Nettie Hines of the same address. Interment was in the Evergreen Cemetgery. Howard-Robinson was in charge of services.
