NASA Seeks HOUSTON--The National Aeronautics and Space Administration is now recruiting astronaut candidates for the Space Shuttle Program and qualified minorities and females are encouraged to apply. Acceptance of applications will end Dec. 1. During the last recruiting program 1976-77, over 8,000 applications were received. Mrs. Wilson said that she has tried to help Ms. Campbell get disability and has been to just about everybody seeking help for her. In September Ms. Campbell wrote to Governor James Hunt for assistance in getting some financial support. Her letter was later turned over to Ward at the Department of Human Resources. Ms.Campbell also receives a monthly Food stamp allotment of $61. The Social Security Administration told her in letter that her condition did not affect? her ability to work. A spokesperson for the SSA declined to comment on the case because Ms. Campbell has file for a reconsideration of their decision. Ms. Campbell said she did file for reconsideration but has not heard anything from SSA. She said she has received some financial help from Goodwill and that Social Services had given her emergency funds, but it was only enough to last two months. She said she has received assistance from various churches in the city. "I'm not asking for a handout, because I've tried to work and if I could 1 would work," Mrs. Campbell said.
