A native of Greenwood County, S.C., he had lived in this
city for most of his life. He served as pastor of St. John
C.M.E. Church for II years and was the Presiding Elder
for five years. He retirei) in 1973. He was a Veteran of
World War 1.
Survivors include thq wife, Mrs. Robena White
Pickens; a daughter, Mrs^tarrjoe-f*. Kemp of Alexandria,
Va.; a son, James L. Pickeiis pjf/Atlanta, Ga.; a brother,
T.S. Pickens; three sisters; ;M?sr'Hat tie Hearst and Ms.
"W ;/Willie Pickens of Winston-Salem and Mrs. Mary Miller
of Greenville, S.C.; the^-sfcep-mother, Mrs. Beulah
Pickens of Greenville, S.C. and four grandchildren.
The remains are at Hooper Funeral Home pending
completion of services. .

Mrs. Martha Lawson Rhyne of 143 N. Claremont
Avenue, died Thursday, Jan. 1, at the N.C. Baptist
Hospital. A native of Sumter, S.C., she had lived most of
her life in this city and was a member of St. Paul United
Methodist Church.
Surviving are her husband, John Rhyne; one son,
Cephus Davenport of Winston-Salem; four sisters, Mrs.
Louise Sinker and Mrs. Erbell Sigler, both of Sumter,
and Mrs. Carrie Dicks and Mrs. Annie Lee Mashore,
both of Richmond, Va.; one brother, Clarence Jones of

12:30 p.m. at St. Paul United Methodist Church, with

Rev. Wylie Edward Wilson, of 3131 Butterfield
Drive, died Wednesday, Dec. 31, at Forsyth Memorial
Hospital. He was a native of Hampton County, S.C.,
and was the Presiding Elder of the WinstonSalem/Greenville
District of the Carolina Conference of
the Christian Methodist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Hattie Miles Wilson; three
daughters, Mrs. Janie Massey, of Germany, and Mrs.
Marvelle Willoughby and Mrs. Jerelyn Travick, both of
Augusta, Ga.; three sisters7 one brotherT^hree grandchildren
and other relatives.
Funeral services were conducted Monday, Jan. 5, at
1:00 p.m. at Hanes Memorial CME Church, with Rev.
C.M. Savoy and Bishop Nathaniel Lindsey officiating.
Interment followed in Evergreen Cemetery. Hooper
Funeral Directors were in charge of services.
Lorenzo Forbes, 82, of 26th Street died December 21,
at Forsyth Memorial Hospital,'C
He was a retiree of the North" Carolina Mutual Insurance
Company. He was a member of First Baptist,
Church in Winston. - ..

Robert Lee Blue, 75, of 231 Wheeler Street died

A native of Clarkston, N.C.;- he was a veteran of
WWII. He was also a member of St. James A.M.E.
Church and Camel City Lodge #10jl.

Cameron Avenue died December 29 at Forsyth Memorial
Hospital.
She was a resident of Winston-Salem for 50 years and a

December 30, at North Carolina Baptist Hospital.
She was a native of Winnsboro, S.C. A member of Mt.
Zion Baptist, she was an active member of the Missionary
Circle. She was also a member of the East Side Flower
Club.
Funeral services were held January 3 at Mt. Zion Bap-1
tist Church with Dr. Kelly O.P. Goodwin officiating. Interment
followed in the Evergreen Cemetery. Johnson &
Son Funeral Services was in charge of arrangements.
