Ms. Jones worked in soft money positions at Winston-Salem State until 1977 when the soft money for her employment was no longer available. During 1977-78, Ms. Jones’ dream was deferred for a time but she kept it alive as she existed on unemployment insurance and work as a part' time data punch operator in Kernersville. Things began looking up again when she was employed at Western Elec tric in 1978 as a data entry technician. Last fall, she heard of the East Winston Restoration Associations’ project of building Jpomes for low and moderate in come families in the East Winston area. She applied for one of the homes. With counseling and assistance from the Western Electric Credit Union; Vanessa Rawls, -Neighborhood Association Advisor with the Communi ty Development Depart ment; and Mrs. Gloria C. Goore, Volunteer Coor dinator of the East Winston Restoration Association, Ms. Jones now has an ap proved application for one of the six Section 235 homes the association is to build, and she has a commitment from a lender for mortgage money to finance the deal. Before the Section 235 Program was discon tinued in January, the East Winston Restoration Association was approved to build six houses under the program.
