After several years of
louring as a performer,
Frankie Smith entered
the limelight in 1977 as a
songwriter for Philadel
phia International Re
cords. While there, he
accumulated an impres
sive list of top songwri
ting credits writing
tunes for such artists as
Archie Bell and the
Drells, Billy Paul, Melba
Moore, DeeDee Sharp,
The Futures, Jean Cam,
and Mike Pedicin, Jr.
Shortly after his first
song “Hard Not To Like
Tou” was recorded by
Archie BEll and the
Drells, Frankie was giv
en the opportunity to
produce as well as write
for these artists.
Currently, Frankie
Smith is signed tc
WMOT Records as an
artist/writer/producer.
His first release “Dou
ble Dutch Bus” was
co-written and produced
by Bill Bloom who has
written and produced foi
artists such as the Jones
Girls and Jerry Butler.
“Double Dutch Buss” is
a unique record which
describes the hot-test
new dance craze sweep
ing the country called
“Double Dutch.” It is
actually a choreo
graphed jump-rope
game with a language
and style all its own that
originated on the streets--
of Frankie’s home towr
of Philadelphia.

Black must move into his
home board, and each time
he releases an outside point it
-becomes easier for you to get
out. While you are waiting
for a roll with two nice big
numbers, you can move the
men on your bar point and
your 6-point. Unless you roll
a doublet, you can probably
make three or four s
moves without having
touch the trapped men.
If both sides get normal
rolls, you have an excellent
chance to get your back men
out; and you will then be
ahead in the race. You may
well find yourself w”' a
sound redouble in Uit ,jll-
ness of time.
You wouldn’t accept the
double if you were behind in
the race since you would
then have to get your back
men out safely and also catch
up. But when you are ahead
in the race, all you need is a
fairly big roll at any time in
your next four rolls to gain a
winning position.
