But buying a ticket and flying from here to there can be confusing not only to the - -1II y nsn T but also to the seasoned " traveler. A smooth domestic trip starts with buying an airline ticket, the Better Business Bureau poitfts out, and this seemingly simple procedure can be confusing. Here is a basic guide to help you t+rrenrg+t tb-e?m>s^e?9-f? airlines, fares, luggage, change-overs, and stopovers,, - .'? ., If vou are not sure yi which airline flies to your IT destination, phone one of W the major airlines. If they K don't fly where you want to Ok go, they will tell you which v airline does. Always ask for the closest airport to your destination. Some cities are tfgH served by several airports, yet these different facilities I are lumped under one city . heading. For example: . Chicago can be O'Hare, Midway,* or Milwaukee; Iff Washington, D.C., can be HW Dulles, Washington Na, ?* tional, or BaltimoreWashington International; New York can be LaGuardia, Kennedy, or Newark. ** Write down the infor- T< mation given you. This JJ? way, you can refer to flight numbers, airports, fares, {WE etc., when talking to the wSjt carrier you will use. Be prepared to tell the ticket agent when you will K be traveling, how long you \/~~~ will be staying, whether you are traveling with children, your address at home and work, credit card numbers and/or checking account numbers, any disability that would require a wheelchair, su and anv diet restrictions 1A1 VI If you are shopping for MC discount fares: El Tell the agent where Tell the agent how long you plan to stay at the \ vRj destination and how many \\lp0 people will be travelling in \ wl your party. This may sound silly, but * with this inforamtion the agent will be able to help you get the best discount fares available. If you can Ml be flexible about the days of travel and the times ol Jj travel, let the agent know this. Sometimes a few hours difference in time can make a very big difference in the * B amount of the fare. Wi The agent may ask you if If you would like to make a ' BkA tentative reservation. The 1^? reason for this is that discounted fare seats sell out fast. If you are fairly certain of your plans, it's better to hold the seats. You can always change them if ^ you must. Buying The Ticket ?/ You can buy an airline WJ ticket at several places. lO 1. The Airport. Be w/m prepared to know where wJL you are going and the times JTJ you want to go. Also be Wfj prepared to stand in line. m/Fi ^ -i a ^ A Wv m l. i ravei /\geni. a travel mJL agency will issue you a Yj ticket at no extra cost to ' you. The travel agency will MJL even issue you a ticket if IV you have already made WJ reservations directly with bA the airline. By using a travel mjk agent, you have more time lV to discuss travel plans in- wfi eluding hotel stops, rental iif cars, interest ooints. etc. An TI airline agent usually doesn't IA have this time to spend with lj^ you. 3. By Mail. Most airlines will mail a ticket to you, if time permits. When you make reservations, the agent will want to know I ? how you will pay for the I ticket. Have your credit I Mor card number ready if you I 6 plan to charge the tickets. JR Page H khlaM.
