The Gems is sponsored , by the Beta Alpha Chapter of the Iota Phi Lambda Sorority Inc, ^hich hopes to help the young women, ages 13 -15 enrich their Tfc ?* -jA uesi lei Holds IV The Best Yet Garden Club held a business meeting last Sunday at the home of Mrs. Ivy Nell McDaniel at 3779 Carver Road. Mrs. Willie Martin was co-hostess and Mrs. Elsie Blackman presided over the meeting. Mrs. Roberta Cook, 4th District Director of the State Federation, spoke to the group about each member becoming a certified flower show judge and encouraged the club to consider organizing a junior floweiclub, Plans were made for the club's anniversary celebration to be held in May. The Reunion I The Shaw, Richardson and Servance families recently held a family reunion organizational meeting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Howard Kiwanis F Larry B. Anthony, president of the Greater Winston-Salem Kiwanis Club, presented a pledge of SI .000 to Delrav HartcfiHH chairman of the Board of Directors for the Patterson Avenue YMCA for its Capital Campaign Drive. The Kiwanis also presented a check for $250 for youth programs at the Patterson , Avenue YMCA. Each club member will also make an individual pledge, making total club and member pledges more than $15,000 in ihe next three years.
