County, N.C. and has lived in Winston-Salem for 40 years. He was
a retired employee of Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools. He
was last employeed at Dalton Jr. High School. He was a member of
Spencer Memorial Church of Christ. His survivors are two nieces,
Mrs. Ellen Elizabeth Parks of 2301 Glenn Avenue and Mrs. Marsilina
Riley, Akron, Ohio. Several other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Mrs. Virginia Mae Lomax of 1629 E. 3rd.
St., University Place Apt. 301-B were held on Sunday, August 5th,
at 2:00 P.M. in Union Baptist Church with Rev. B.F. Daniels, officiating.
The remains did repose in the Funeral Home until 1:00

Funeral services for Mr. Ed Gaston Brannon of 1444 N. Cherry
St., were held on Wednesday, August 8, at 4:00 P.M. in Clark S.
Brown & Sons Funeral Home with Rev. Ellis C. Austin, officiating.
The remains did repose in the funeral home until the funeral hour.
Interment was in the Piedmont Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Sarah Sterling
Mrs. Sarah Sterling of 233 Westmoreland Ave., Orlanda,
Florida passed on Wednesday, August 1st in that city. She was a
native of Winston-Salem, N.C. and was a former member of Emmanuel
Baptist Church here. She is locally survived by a sister,
Mrs. Cora Simpson. Funeral services were held on Monday August
6th at 11:00 A.M. in Orlanda, Florida. Interment was there.

Mrs. May be lie Lindsay Archie
Mrs. Maybelle Lindsay Archie of 1502 Derry Steet passed on Friday
at her home. Her remains were removed to Clark S. Brown &
$ons Funeral Home. She was a native of Roanoke, Va. and has lived
in Winston-Sdlem for 65 years. She was a retired tobacco worker
for Winston Leaf Tobacco Company. She was of the Methodist
Faith. Her survivors are two nephews, Mr. Calvin H. Archie of
1082 East 15th St., & Mr. Robert G. Archie of 2404 Booker St.,
two great nephews, Mr. Ronda Archie of the city, and Mrs. Calvin
H. Archie, Jr., of the U.S. Air Force Base, Washington, D.C.
Several other relatives and friends.

Mr. James Henry Scales
Mr. James Henry Scales, of 2711 Reynolds Park Road, died
Tuesday night at Forysth Memorial Hospital after an extended
period of illness. Mr. Scales was a native of Tobaccoville, N.C. but
had resided in Winston-Salem for the nast 10 vear* after havino liv.

ed in Bridgeport, Conn, for approximately 40 years. He was a
retired employee of the Aluminum Company of America.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Jenny S. Scales of the home; two
daughters, Mrs. Snow S. Turner of Bridgeport, Conn, and Mrs.
Kate S. Little of Atlanta, Ga.; one brother, Worth Scales of
Bridgeport, Conn.; three sisters, Mrs. Addie Sprinkles of WinstonSalem,
Mrs. Emily Scales of Newtown, Conn, and Mrs. Otelia
Greenwood of Bridgeport, four grandsons; one son-in-law,
William R. Little of Atlanta, Ga.; nieces, nephews and other
relatives.
Memorial services for Mr. Scales were held Monday at 2:00 P.M.
at the Forsyth Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Blanco Speas bringing
words of comfort.

Mrs. Marie White Rice
Mrs. Marie White Rice of 1171 Cleveland Court passed on Sunday,
August 12, 1984 at the N.C. Baptist Hospital. She was a native
of Lancaster, S.C. and a retired employee of Piedmont Leaf
Tobacco Company.
She is survived by: three sons, Robert White of the city, Clifton
and Roosevelt White, both of the home; two daughters; Mrs.
Cassandra Mills and Mrs. Jacquelin White, both of the city; three
grandchildren; one brother, William Powell of the city; and a host
of other relatives and friends.
Funeral plans are imcomplete at this time.

Wagner, of the city; three brothers; l*efty, William and Benjamin
Wagner all of the Midway Community; the maternal grandmother,
Mrs. Clarice Miller of the city; the maternal grandfather, Mr.
Gurney of the city; and a host of uncles, aunts, other relatives and
friends. Funeral plans are incomplete at this time. Funeral services
were conducted Monday at 4:30 P.M. from the Righteous Church
of God with interment in the family plot of the Church Cemetery.

sister; Mrs. Ira J. Roberts of Kings Mountain, N.C., Mrs. Daisy
Patterson of Dayton, Ohio, and Mrs. Bessie Lowe, of the city; one
half sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Spikes of Harrisburg, Pa.; one brother;
Mr. Ray Watson of Kings Mountain, N.C., three half brothers;
Garline Watson of Shelby, N.C., O.B. Watson and Will Watson
both of Harrisgurg, Pa.; 15 grandchildren; and other relatives and
friends. Funeral services were conducted Monday at 4:00 P.M.

Mrs. Wilhelmenia T. Jones
Mr. Wilhelmenia T. Jones of 1424 E. 14th Street passed Friday
at her home. She was a native of Spartinburg, S.C., and a member
of the New Bethel Baptist Church were she was a former member
of the Usher Board.
She is survived by two sons; Henry Jones Jr. of the city and
James P. Jones of White Plaines, N.Y.; three granddaughters; one
sister; Mrs. Fannie Goins of Haiti; one brother, Percy Teamer of
Buffalo, N.Y.; two daughters-in-law; Mrs. Mary M. Jones of the
city and Mrs. Betty A. Jones of White Plaines, N.Y. and a host of
neices, nephews other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Wednesday at 3:00 P.M. at New
family received friends Tuesday evening at Gilmore's. The family
may be contacted at,the home of the son, Henry Jones, Jr., 3805
Danube Court.

Funeral services for Mrs. Martha M. Rudisull of 2215 N.
Cleveland Avenue were conducted Saturday at 11 A.M. from the
Gilmore Memorial Chapel where Dr. Serenus Chum officiated
with interment in the Ebernezer Baptist Church Cemetery in Rock v
Hill, S.C. The body reposed at Gilmore's until the service hour.
The family received friends this evening at Gilmore's from 7 until
7:30 P.M. The family may be contacted and the funeral cortege left
the home of the daughter, Mrs. Mary M. Barnette of 2215 N.
Cleveland Avenue.
