But now, it is highly regarded not only in Winston-Salem, but throughout the state. At a banquet and dinner on _ Friday, Oct. 19, the Experiment l'z . in Self-Reliance officially celebrated its 20 years of service. The Experiment in SelfReliance was established in 1964 i.. to administer^ grant fron the North Carolina Fund. It was designated by Forsyth County as f ' a Community Action Ageftcy in 1965 in order to apply for funds available throught&he Economic Opportunity Act in 1964. ESR received its first OEO funds in Department of Health and Human Services, the Department \ of Housing and Urban Development, as well as local governGroups to host election forum The Winston-Salem Chapter of Top Ladies of Distinction Inc.,^ Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc., the Winston-Salem Chapter of the National Council of Negro Women Inc., Winston-Salem State University Family (Circle K, NAACP and Young Democrats) will sponsor and present 4'Know These Candidates."
