1 Notice is hereby given that a public hearing will be held by the
City ot Winston-Salem and the Winston-Salem Transit Authority (VESTA)
at tho Winston-Salem Transit Authority Conlerence Room 1060 N
Trade Street, at 12 15 p m . Friday. Oocember 15. 1964 tor the purpose
ot considering a protect lor which financial assistance is being
sought trom the Urban Mass Transportation Administration, pursuant to
tho Urban Mass Transportation Act ot 1964. as amended, generally
described as follows <?
A Description ot Project The Protect consists ot land acquisition.
construction ind furnishings tor a public transportation cantor to bo
located at Third and Main Streets, purchase ot two supervisory
vehicles, purchase ot tour specialty transit vehicles, protect administration
and contingency The prefect cost is currently estimated at
S4.344.455 ol which $1,000 wHI be revenue financing Irom the sale ol
two supervisory vehicles It is proposed that the City ot Winston-Salem
contribute $434,346. the North Carolina Department ot Transportation
contribute $434,345. and that $4,344,455 wit! come from either UMTA
Section 5. 9 or 9A funds.
These funds wHI support WSTA service throughout its service area
generally the City ot Winston-Salem and its immediate environs

Pursuant to an opinion ol the Comptroller General ol the United States.
WSTA buses are available tor incidental eharter service within the
designated service area. This fervice will not interfere with regularly
scheduled mass transportation services. WSTA agrees that neither it
nor any operator of mass transportation equipment on its behalf will
engage in any charter bus operations where points ol origin or destinationieiil
be outside ot the designated service area as established by the
General Assembly of the State ol North Carolina, amended February 25.
1974.
