Holman of Glenbrook-Drive, has completed an aviation structural mechanic safety equipment course. During the nine-week course at the Naval Air Technical training Center in Memphis, Tenn., Holman was trained in the inspection, maintenance and repair of aircraft frames, exteriors, ejection, air circulation and pressurization systems. During classroom and practical application periods, he studied blueprint reading, corrosion control, metalworking, gaseous and liquid oxygen systems, ejection seats and rannni#?c and fir*? *?v_ ? ?..wK.v? ?"V V/* tinguishing systems. A 1983 graudate of East Forsyth High School, he joined the Navy in May 1984. Marine Cpl. Larry W. Boyles, son of Kathryn H. and Larry W. Boyles Sr. of Union Cross Road, has been awarded a Meritorious Mast while serving at Marine Corps Air Station, Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii. A Meritorious Mast is an official recognition from a Marine's commanding officer of superior individual performance. It is issued in the form of a bulletin published throughout the command, and a copy is entered in the Marine's permanent service records. A 1980 graduate of East Forsyth High School, he joined the Marine Corps in May 1982. Navy Seaman Apprentice Jerry W. Carter, son of James E. and Joan E. During Carter's eight-week training cycle, he studied general military subjects designed to prepare him for further academic' and on-the-job training in one of the Navy's 85 basic fields. Carter's studies included seamanship, close-order drill, Naval history and first aid. Personnel who complete this course of instruction are eligible for three hours of college credit in physical education and hygiene. A 1981 graduate of North Forsyth Sr. High School, he joined the Navy in August 1984. Marine Pfc. Steven D. Hodges, son of John A. and Glenda F. Hodges of Ambridge Drive, and Marine Pfc. James L. McCray, son of Johnnie B. McCray of Rosemary Drive, have completed recruit training at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot at Parris Island, S.C. During the 11-week training cycle, McCray and Hodges were taught the basic& of battlefield survival. They were introducted to the typical daily routine that they will experience during their enlistment and studied the personal and professional standards traditionally exhibited by Marines. They participated in an active physical conditioning program | and gained proficiency in a variety of military shills, including I first aid, rifle marksmanship and II close-order drill. Teamwork and self-discipline were emphasized throughout the training cycle. A 1984 graduate of East Forsyth Sr. High School, McCray joined the Marine Corps in November 1983.
