yoi poeim to Poeti Corner, P.O. Box 31$ Winston-Salem, N.C. We ai not responsible for returning sul missions, and because of the volume < mail received, there may be some delay I the publication of your poem 44Who Am I? I am hu+diy evap wckometfr by- aftyene, Yet, I am assigned to a task that has to be done, I have been around since the creation of man, When God gave us life, I, too, was in his plan. No one ever knows when I'm coming their way, So it's best to be prepared each and every day. I know sadness follows whenever I come, But my only desire is for you to have a better home. When the time draws nigh, and you breathe your last breath, That's when I step in -- my name is Death. Gloria T. Clyburn "Poor Hungry Eyes" There are npnnlp cr* ivoot ? _ JV "Van., tllt.ll UC11ICS ClI c so empty. There mouths, so dry. Their poor hungry eyes. They tell us of a body, long gone without any food. Just a morsel taken for granted by the blessed who are eating so good. Hungry eyes that plead for help, do their tears flow in vain? While their hands reach out to someone, their hearts call out your name. Those poor bony bodies, how they all cry out for mercy. Oh, could we even imagine just how bad these souls are suffering? Many may see today, but the others won't see tomorrow. While our stomachs are filled, poor hungry eyes, they die in sorrow. It's a pitiful sight to witness of how hard this life can be. For the very unfortunate like those truly touch the heart so deep. Just to hear a child weeping and then you find yourself crying ... , , To see poor hungry eyes suffering and then you hear they're dying. There has to be an answer for tthose starving \n despair. We got to? let them know that we, the people, care. We have so much to be crateful for - ? ~ p- ? w. w. ' We should all do our part To let them know that hope is on the way, We know we have a heart.
