44 "Tjwas The Night Before Jesus Came"
'Twas the night before Jesus came, and all through the house
Not a feature was praying, not one in the house.
- Their Bibles were'laid on the shelf without care - a
In hopes that Jesus would not come there.
The children were dressing to crawl into bed,
Not once ever kneeling or bowing a head.
AncTMonTin her~rocker with baby on her lap
Was watching the "Late Show" while I took a nap.
When out of the East there arose such a clatter.
1 sprang to my feet to see what was the matter. *
Away to the window I Hew like a flash,
^ . Tore open the shutters and threw the sash!
When what to my wondering eyes should appear
But angels proclaiming that Jesus was here

I knew in a moment this must be the day\
The light of His face made me cover my head.
It was Jesus! returning just like He had said.
And though I possessed worldly wisdom and wealth,
I cried when I saw Him in spite of myself..
In the Book of Life which He held in His hand
Was written the name of every saved man,
He spoke not $ word as He searched for my name; < ?
When He said, "It's not here," my head hung in shame.
The people whose names had"been written with love
* He gathered to take to His Father above.
With those who were ready he rose without a sound '
While all the rest were left standing around.
I fell to my knees, but it was too late;
Utiad waited too long and thus sealed my fate.
' I stood and I cried as they rose out of sight;
Oh, if only I had been ready tonight.
In the words of this poem the meaning is clear;
The coming of Jesus is drawing near.
I - There's only one life, and when comes the last call,

"Christmas '83"
How many times have we viewed
Christmas with eyes of our youth?
[ Let's try to recapture, yes, once
For a while
i
Christmas seasons when we were children.

Remembering the tree on a
Chrisfmasy mom;
Recalling the day our Savior was born.
Are we adults, too adult to
Reflect and remember
That glorious day
? Coming late in December?
We awoke early one frosty morn
And realized
This day our Savior was born.

1 ; ^1 Remember"
I remember the way he smiled, the way he laughed
And the wav he cried. He was a graceful man
Even the way he died. In his eyes, there was no
j Fear. He was thinking of the times that he held so
Dear. For they were happy times, you see, we all had,
Mama, Daddy, brothers, sisters and me.
I remember when I was sad and feeling blue, how
He was always someone that I could talk to.

I know he's with Jesus, and that makes me glad.
For he was a Christian man, and on God's precious
Word is where he took his stand.
I remember the fear I had, when I would think
Of life without Dad. And now the time is here, and <
I'm thankful that Mama is near. Daddy's gone,
But oh, what good memories he left to help me
Go on.
I remember a lot of things, and the most special
Is listening to a tape to hear Daddy preach and sing. 1
Daddy has gone to heaven, and 1 hope somehow
I He knows that someday I'll be there too.
I And Daddy, I hope y3u know how much I love
And remember you.
