"Trying Love Once Again'9
Now it seems that we've found each other again.
But this time it feels so right, as passion for one another
Builds in the night.
If the hurt is going to come back and your love is not real
Please let me know, because I don't want mv mn? * ?'Ammlm
Let the things you are saying be the things you are feeling.
The things you feel should be with all of your heart
And not Just the bottom of your heart.
\
I - \
This time our k>ve is like a pebble, washed upon the beach.
The pebble in your heart you should always try to keep.
If you ever let go, the waves will wash upon the shore,
And the pebble inside your heart will be just stones you'll
Have no more. >
Gina Gambrell
"Worda In Poetry"
"I've waited for almost a century!"
Is an exaggerating comparison called a hyperbole.
"The waves looked like a mountain in the sea."
Expressed comparison by suggestion is called metonymy.
Figures of speech cause so much word confusions,
But an incident that refers to history is called an allusion.
The study of the world is geography,
But addressing inaniniate objects is called aspostrophe.
"He's an old heel!" is an old expression,
But inanimate objects given human qualities is called
personification.
You may say, "Oh, you sang so beautifully!"
But words meaning just the opposite are called irony.
"He's an honorable man," and other quotations such as this ...
Placed in opposition are called contrast or antithesis.
( As time goes on, how fast doth life fade. ... ?
I An actual story in verse forma; called.ataijlad. ?
<i * 'A \*:f 4>
^ ^ ..^
Announcing formally is declarative,
But a short story written in poetry is called a narrative.
One may be called very sympathetic ...
But a story telling of a hero's life is an epic.
The method or fashion is known as a mode,
But lyrics written in a dignified style are called an ode.
In chemistry we study of an acid called sulfuric,
But putting poetry to music is called a lyric.
Some people sing the chorus while others play the melody,
But the lament on the death of a person is called an elegy.
I know your mind must be on the blink,
Because some of these words make you stop and think. ...
I don't know their direct derivation,
But in learning them you can give poetry a better appreciation.
You may find your mind a little hazy,
But to me, I say, you are very lazy!
Because in appreciating a poet's art,
You must also take a part.
