Burial followed in the Evergreen Cemetery. Russell Funeral Directors was in charge of the funeral arrangements. JOHN HOPPER John Hopper, 70, of 506 Kinard Drive died Friday, May 16, at Forsyth Memorial Hospital. He was a native of Shelby and had lived in Winston-Salem for 40 years. Hopper was a member of Saints Delight TVPH Church, where he was a deacon and former superintendent of the Sunday school. He waMmfimber of4heX3ood Samaritan Senior Citizens Club and a veteran of World War II. Hopper was a self-employed cement finisher. He was a member of Salem Lodge No. 139 and the Ever Ready Condolence Club. White was a veteran of World War II and a retired employee of the Main Post Office downtown. He was also active with Meals on Wheels. He is survived by his wife, Frances C. White of the home; two sons, Mason S. White Jr. of Monterey, Calif., and Sterling A. White of Atlanta; one daughter, Doris White Mack of WinstonSalem; one sister, Ella W. Bradley of Detroit; four grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; several nieces, nephews and many other friends. Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. on Thursday, May 22, at Shiloh Baptist Church, with Dr. J. Ray Butler officiating. Burial followed in Piedmont Memorial Gardens. He was a native of Davie County and had lived in Winston-Salem for 50 years. Hampton was a member of First Calvary Baptist Church. He was a veteran of World War II and a retired employee of Hanes Dye and Finishing Co. He is survived by his wife* Dorothy McKay Hampton of the home; six daughters and one son, all of WinstonSalem; two sons-in-law; four aunts and one uncle; 17 grandchildren; five brothers-in-law and four sisters-in-law; several cousins, other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, May 20, at the Russell Funeral Home Chapel, with Dr. B.F. Daniels officiating. Burial followed in the Evergreen Cemetery. She was a native of Orange County, Va., and had lived in Winston-Salem for most of her life. Mrs. Johnson was a Baptist. She is survived by two devoted friends, Christine Johnson and Annie Milton, both of WinstonSalem, a godson, Timothy Duncan of Wintston-Salem, and other <! Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. on Monday, May 26, in the chapel of the Hooper Funeral Home, with W.H. Alston officiating. Burial followed in the Nat Watkins Cemetery. Hooper Funeral Directors was in charge of the fUneral arrangements. ANDREW "WOODY" WOODRUFF JR. Andrew "Woody" Woodruff Jr., 38, of 300 Elm Drive died Sunday, May 18, at New Hanover Memorial Hospital in Wilmington. He was born in New York City on July 28,1947, to Andrew Woodruff Sr. and the late Sally Matthews. Woodruff was a graduate of Central Davie High School and attended North Carolina A&T State University. He graduated from Forsyth Technical School of Nursing and was a veteran of the Viet Nam War. Woodruff was an employee at Baptist Hospital. He is survived by his wife, Janice Woodruff of the home; his former wife, Sandra Woodruff of Winston-Salem; one son, Adrian "Andy" Woodruff; three daughters, Andrea Lynn, Regina and Kristina Woodruff of the home; his father, Andrew Woodruff Sr. of Mocksville; two brothers, Ronald and Aaron Woodruff, both of Mocksville; three cousins, Catherine Kydd of Boston, Alma Frost of New London, Conn., and Sylvia Myers of Omaha, Neb.; many other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, May 21, at Second Presbyterian Church in Mocksville, with the Rev. Leland Richardson officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
