HARVEY GLENDEL FLETCHER
Harvey Glendel Fletcher of 1414 E. 25th St.
died Sunday, June 14, en route to Forsyth
Memorial Hospital. He was a native of WinstonSalem
and a graduate of Atkins High School.
Fletcher was a veteran of the U.S. Army and an

vived by his wife, Geraldine Fletcher; four
daughters, Glenda Fletcher, Mejii Pouncy, both
of Winston-Salem, Tomika Paul and Kena Paul,
both Of Anderson, S.C.; two sons, Brian Pouncy
and Brandon Fletcher, both of Winston-Salem;
two sisters, Arnize Clark of Winston-Satem and
Loretta Fletcher of Westbury, N.Y.; two brothers,Charles
Fletcher and Larry Fletcher; several other
relatives and friends.
Services were held at 3 p.m. on Thursday, June
18, in the cnapel ot tne Hooper Funeral Home,
with the Rev. E.L. Clark Sr. officiating. Burial
followed in Evergreen Cemetery. Hooper Funeral
Directors was in charge of the funeral arrangements.
EDRIC JAMES RAMSEUR
EdriCvJames Ramseur of 1288 Foster St. died
Saturday, June 13, at Forsyth Memorial Hospital.
He was a native of Salisbury and a retired
employee of the Royal Cake Co.

Services were held at 2 p.m. on Friday, June 19,
in the chapel of the Hooper Funeral Home, with
Bishop James Wright officiating. Burial followed
in Eyrgreen Cemetery. Hooper Funeral Directors
was ra charge of the funeral arrangements.
ROBERT McCORKLE JR.
Robert McCorkle Jr. of 3004 N. Patterson Ave,
died Monday, June 15, at his home. He was a
native of Ridgeway, S.C., and had lived most of
his life in Winston-Salem.
McCorkle was a member of Second Calvary
Baptist Church and a retired employee of Great
Lake Steel Co. in Detroit. He is survived by his
wife, Effie P. McCorkle of the home; three
daughters, Kathleen Riser, Lavern Hawkins and
Swanetta Green;, one son, Shelton J. Thompson;
his mother-in-law, Carrie Peoples; two sisters,
Ophelia Aikens and Joree Hart; three sons-in-law;
three grandchildren; several other relatives and
friends.
Services were held at 4 p.m. on Friday, June 19,
at Second Calvary;,Baptist Church, with the Rev.
Id.S. Stowe officiating.. Burial followed in
H(J|Evergreen Cemetery. Hooper Funeral Directors
was in charge of the funeral arrangements.
MAYBELLE CAUTHEN
Maybelle Cauthen of 1158 E. 15th St. died
-B- Tuesdayr^June 16, at Baptist Hospital. She was a
native of Kershaw, S.C., and had livecj in
I Winston-Salem for the past 38 years.
Mrs. Cauthen was a member of Shiloh Baptist
Church and a retired employee of the Winston
Leaf Tobacco Co. She is survived by two
I daughters, Jannie Mae Cauthen and Willene
Cauthen, both of Winston-Salem; two sons,
Thomas Lee Cauthen and Roy Lee Cauthen; one
sister, Amelia Session; several grandchildren,
other relatives and friends.
Services were held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday,
June 20, in the chapel of the Hooper Funeral
Home, with Dr. J. Ray Butler officiating. Burial
followed in Evergreen Cemetery. Hooper Funeral
Directors was in charge of the funeral arrangements.
I CORA TAYLOR RORIE '
Cora Taylor Rorie of 811 N. Cameron Ave.
died Thursday,. June 18, at Forsyth Memorial
Hospital. She was a native of Hamlet and had
lived in Winston-Salem for the past 60 years.
Mrs. Rorie was a retired employee of R.J.
Reynolds Tobacco Co. and a member of Prince of
Peace Baptist Church; she also belonged to the
Skyland Park and Columbia Heights- senior
citizens organizations. She is survived by three
daughters, Virginia Mickens, Belle Whitaker and
Cynthia Anthony; one son, Dennis Rorie Jr.; four
I sisters, Virginia Oxendene, Annie Tatum, Blanche
Boyles and Lola Strange; several other relatives
and friends.
Services were held at 4 p.m; on Monday, June
22, at Prince of Peace Baptist Church, with the
Rev. Ray Watlington officiating. Burial followed
in Evergreen Cemetery. Hooper Funeral Directors
was in charge of the funeral arrangements.
ESSIE MAE CAMPBELL
Essie Mae Campbell of 2709 Kilkare Ave. died
Friday, June 19, at Baptist Hospital. She was a
native of Lexington and had lived in WinstonSalem
for the past several years.
Mrs. Campbell was a retired employee of the
Thomasville Furniture Co. She is survived by two
sons, Leroy Hunter of Winston-Salem and
Gregory Massey of Charlotte; five grandchildren;
several great-grandchildren, other relatives and
friends.
Services were held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday,
June 24, in the chapel of the Hooper Funeral
Home. Burial followed in Evergreen Cemetery.
Hooper Funeral Directors was in charge of the
funeral arrangements.

HENRY LEWIS JR. Henry
Lewis Jr., 37, of 1602 Oak Croft Court
died Wednesday, June 17, in Winston-Salem. He
was a native of Winston-Salem, where h? attended
the Forsyth County schools.
Lewis was a former employee of Hanes Dye and
Finishing Co. and a veteran of tke U.S. Army. He
is survived by his wife, Claudette K. Lewis of the
home; two daughters, Michelle Kim Lewis of ,
Washington and Bridgette McCray of WinstonSalem;
five sons, Andre Bernard Lewis of .
Washington, Richard King, Hillarie King, both of
Winston-Salem, Wilkes King of Troy and Isaih
King of the home; two sisters, Annie Lewis and
Odessa L. Steele, both of Winston-Salem; one
grandchild; his father- and mother-in-law, Mr.

20, at Johnson-Howard-Robinson Home of
Memory Chapel, with Elder James A. Leak
officiating. Burial followed in Evergreen
Cemetery. Johnson-Howard-Robinson Home of

Doris Stinson of 1108 E. 11th St. died Sunday,
June 21, at Forsyth Memorial Hospital. She was a
member of Mount Carmel Baptist Church and a
graduate of Atkins High School.
Mrs. Stinson was a retired employee of Hanes
Knitting Co. She is survived by her husband,
George Stinson of the home: two dauchter*
Bradley and Teresa Bradley, both of WinstonSalem;
three sons, George Stinson III, Brad Stinson,
both of Winston-Salem, and Frank Foster of
. Washington; one brother, Donald Foster of
Winston-Salem; three devoted daughters-in-law; I

NATHANIEL CLARK
- Nathaniel Clark of 945 E. 18th St. died Tuesday
evening, June 16, at Baptist Hospital. Known to ?
his friends as "Tom," he was a native of Forsyth
County.
Clark was an employee of the B.J. Body Shop.
He is survived by three sisters, Mrs. Wilmer Patterson
of Winston-Salem, JoAnn Clark of New
York City and Shirley Storey of Boston; four
brothers, Robert Clark, William Clark, Walter
Clark Jr. and Donald Clark, all of WinstonSalem;
three uncles, the Rev. E.L. Clark, the Rev.
W.P. Clark and Frank Clark, all of WinstonSalem;
two aunts, Rosetta Clark and Daisey N

Factory No. 256. He is survived by his wife, Hallie

New York City; one sister, Izola Crosby of
Winston-Salem; one granddaughter, Stephanie
