Williard Fair to speak at NAACP banquet ^ T. Williard Fair, director of the ^rban League of Greater Miami, ^ill be the keynote speaker at the ^dnual Freedom Fund Banquet sponsored by the Winston- ^alem/Forsyth County branch of ^te NAACP on Saturday, March S’- In addition to his Urban ^aguc responsibilities, ("Willie”) 'air also devotes time to many ther civic endeavors. Last year he acted as chair- lan of the City of Miami Park and advisory Board, and vice-chair- lan of the City of Miami's Health 'acility Authority. He has also served as an adjunct professor at Florida Inter national University, Atlanta Uni versity of School of Social Work, and Bethunc Cookman College. His contributions to enhancing the quality of life have earned numerous honors, including Fron tier International's 1987 Pioneer of the Year Award; the Vernon E. Jor dan Advanced Human Services Executive Management Award; Stroh’s Sundance Sparkler Citizen ship Award; and inclusion in the 1985 edition of Who’s Who Among Black Americans. A native of Winston-Salem, Fair is the son of Mrs. Mary L. Fair. He was a cum laude graduate of Johnson C. Smith University, where he earned a B. A. degree. Reynolds Tobacco SA to establish Boys Club satel- te centers in the city's Cleveland omes and Piedmont Park com- lunities. The facilities will serve youngsters for whom the Boys Club Stadium Drive facility is inaccessible. The satellite units, which will be open on a limited schedule, will have staff and volunteers to pro vide programs for boys and girls aged 6 through 18. The programs focus on leadership, career and social skills. The grant from Reynolds Tobacco provides the funding to start the satellite centers this year. 'We’re very excited about this grant from Reynolds Tobacco," said Moore. "Our hope is these centers will provide a positive outlet for youngsters who couldn't otherwise participate in our programs."
