ROLAND WILLIAM TUTTLE Mr. Roland William Tuttle, known as "Ready Freddie," of Midway died Tuesday, Feb. 7, at Forsyth Memorial Hospital. He was a native of - Midway and a member of Brooks Temple Unued Methodist Church. He - was an employee of Sprunce Finishing Co. and a member of Midway Sportsman Club. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Carolyn R. Tuttle of Winston-Salem; one son, Mr. Lamont Ruth of Winston-Salem; two daughters, Ms. Kisha Tuttle and Ms. Stephanie Tuttle of Winston-Salem; one grandson, Mr. Joshua Tuttle of Midway; his mother, Mrs. Virginia T. Wilds of Midway; his father, Mr. George Thomas of Midway; his stepfather, Mr. Willie Wilds of Midway; five sisters, Mrs. Emma Leonard, Mrs. Sandra Richard son, Ms. Pamela Wilds, Ms. Willa Wilds, all of Midway, and Mrs. Arnitta Thomas of New York; six brothers, Mr. Jerry Wilds, Mr. Curtis Wilds, Mr. James Wilds, Mr. Charlie Wilds, Mr. Aaron Thomas, all of Midway, and Mr. Johnny Thomas of Virginia; his maternal grandfather, Mr. Tommy Tuttle of Midway; his step-paternal-grandmother, Mrs. Pearl Alford of Darlington, S.C.; several other relatives and friends. Services were held at 4 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 11, at Brooks Temple United Methodist Church, with the Rev. R.B. Crutchfield officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery. Gilmore s was in charge of the funeral arrangements. MR. S.T. GHOLSTON r Mr. S.T. Gholston, 74, of 1986 Maryland. Ave., Apt. A, died Monday morning, Feb. 6, at his home. He was a native of Commerce, Ga., and had lived in Winston-Salem for most of his life. He was a Baptist and a retired employee of R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in World War II. He is survived by a sister, Ms. Robert Gholston of Bridgeport, Conn.; several devoted friends, Ms. Mary Webster, Ms. Jeanette Hairston, Ms. Annie B. Bryant and Ms. Evelyn Roberts, all of Winston-Salem; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Services were held at 3:30 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 10, at the Russell Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. C.C. Nance officiating. Burial fol lowed in Evergreen Cemetery. Russell's was in charge of the funeral arrangements. MR. WILLIE GLENN CARTER SR. Mr. Willie Glenn Carter Sr., 67, of 1508 Derry St. died Friday, Feb. 10, in Winston-Salem. He was a member of Kimberly Park Holiness Church and was a retired employee of Recreation Billiards, where he was employed for more than 50 years. He is survived by his wife, Evangelist Mary M. Russell's was in charge of the funeral arrangements. MRS. JULIA PERRIN TILLMAN Mrs. Julia Perrin Tillman, 73, of Volcano, Calif., died Tuesday morn ing, Feb. 7, at her home. She was born Nov. 1, 1915, in Greenwood, S.C., to Mary Q. Perrin and Nelson Perrin. She attended the local public schools before moving to Winston-Salem. She married the late WJ. Till man Sr., who preceded her in death. She was a member of St James A ME Church, where she was on the Senior Choir and served in many other capacities until her illness.
