Reynolds Poor and Needy Trust to help with the construction of a new shelter and administrative office on North Trade Street. Construction on the new build ing, which will include upgraded facilities for homeless families as well as women and children, will begin later this month and will be completed in mid-1992. "There is a growing number of families and women with children who find themselves without shel ter," said Major Edwin Suiton, area commander for the Army. "Our new facility will provide 24-hour shelter and an improved ability to provide additional services ranging from a playground for the children to job training." The Kate B. Reynolds Poor and Needy Trust is a private foun dation created in 1946 through pro visions in the will of Mrs. William N. Reynolds for the purpose of improving the welfare of Forsyth County's disadvantaged people. Approximately $3 million is award ed annually to nonprofit organiza tions for programs which provide the economically disadvantaged with basic necessities as well as for services which improve the quality such services because of circum stances beyond their control.
