Peace and goodwill from The Olympic Lodge #795 Happiness comes from within. The Olympic Lodge #795 P.H.A. F.A.M. of Winston-Salem, secured a measure of happiness by their own acts. They found a feeling of contentment by helping our less for tunate fellowmen. . On December 2 at the Masonic Temple on 14th Street, 17 Masonic Brothers and the Worshipful Master, Franklin Johnson, presented to Mr. Danny Reed of Crisis Control Min - isoies a check for $500. The check will be used to help the less fortu nate of our community during this season of peace and goodwill. Sara Lee awards - $10,000 grant to Upward Bound Addie Hymes, director of Pro ject Upward Bound at Winston Salem State University expressed excitement and overwhelming appreciation when she received a $10,000 check from the Sara Lee Corporation. Mrs. Hymes stated that the funds would be used for expanding and sustaining supple mental as well as complemental academic, cultural, educational and enrichment activities of the pro gram relative.to "family" involve ment. Upward Bound students and their parents are very involved in activities designed to enhance the student's overall preparedness for the college experience and to improve and further bond the stu dent/parent relationship. The direc tor and her staff go far beyond the norm in ensuring parental involve meni in die total education uf Uie Upward Bound student Sara Lee's generous and much needed $10,000 grant will certainly help fill the widening funding gap of the program. FC Day School ^ students complete intern requirements Twelve students participating in Forsyth County Day School's Leadership Effectiveness and Developments program completed a portion of their internship require ments by attending a morning ses sion in District Attorney Tom Kei th's courtroom last week. The students, Ginna Chris tensen, Kim Cotter, Jason Davis, Bryan Freiberger, Laurie Furr, Tiffany Griggs, Kristen Harris, Jes sica Monroe, Blair Phillips, James Sheets, Emily Tierney, and Sandra Trujillo, observed the jury selection prodiss_&nd saw court in session. The program will continue throughout the 1991-92 school year with internships and mentoring for all students involved.
