He was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church and a retired employee of the South ed Railway Company. 1 He is survived by is wife of 71 years, Mrs. Margie J. Hammonds, of the home; one daughter, Mrs. Eunice Dupont of Winston-Salem; one son, Mr. Columbus Hammonds Jr. of Winston-Salem; three sisters, Honey Bee Neeley of Washington, D.C., Lot tie White of Lincolnton, and Lucy Foster of Cher ryville; three brothers, James Hammonds of Lincol nton., Robert Lee Hammonds of East Spencer, and Oscar Hammonds of Kannapolis; fourteen grandchil dren; thirty-six great-grandchildren; a devoted brother-in-law, Mr. Joe Johnson of Winston-Salem; *** -m*, aqd a host of other relatives and many friends. Funeral services were held Monday, Dec. 23 at 330 p.m. at Shiloh Baptist Church with the Rev erend Paul Lowe officiating. Burial followed at Pied mont Memorial Gardens. ' i * O'ROARK Mrs. Blondelia McKnight Smith O'Roark, of Chicago, 111., died Friday, Dec. 13, 1991 in Chicago. She was born in Winston-Salem to Andrew and Ophelia McKnight (Rev.) She attended Knoxville College where she excelled in Classical/Vocal music and fine arts. After graduation, she briefly taught school and traveled with .several choirs, often as the featured soloist. She was a member of Gammon Memorial United Methodist Church and avidly par ticipated in the choir. : She is survived by one son, Jason Smith III (LaRaine); one sister, Barbara McKnight Bumbry; one broth&fohn Clyde McKnight; her stepmother, Leona McKnight; sisters-in-law. Novella Smith and Edna Evans (Jacob); four grandchildren, Shelley, Jason IV, Atkins, and Julius; and numerous other rel atives and friends. Funeral services were held Thursday, Dec. 19, at 11 a.m. at Gammon United Methodist Church in Chicago, 111. with the Reverend Donald Guest offici ating. Burial followed at Restvale Cemetery in Chicago. SUBER Mr. John Wesley Suber, of Winston-Salem, died Sunday, Dec. 15, 1991 at his home. He was bom on April 30.1941 in Winston-Salem to the late Mr. John Suber and Mrs. Lottie Adams. He attended the Win ston-Sjalem/Forsyth County Schools and was a retired disabled employee of the R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company, Factory #12. He is survived by his mother, Mrs. Lottie Adams of the koine; four brothers, Wilson G. Robinson (Brenda), Alfred Adams (Lectra), Frederick Adams of San Francisco, Calif., and Thomas Adams of Vir ginia; three sisters, Diane Kirby, Madeline Mullins, and Ethel Green, all of Winston-Salem; two aunts, Emma Suber and Hazel Suber of Baltimore, Md., a devote^yjaend.
