The bride is the daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. George Hairston Jr. of
Winston-Salem.
The groom is the son of Mr.
Starks Ford of Lake View, S.C. and
Mrs. Beatrice Ford of Marietta.
The bride was given in mar
riage by her father.
Serving as maids of honor were
Teresa Hairston, sister of the bride,
and Alberneue (Frank) Keitt, both
of Winston-Salem.
Bridesmaids were Jackie
(James) Crawford of Walkertown,
Linda Owen of Greensboro, and
Sharon Savage of Winston-Salem.
Best man was James Crawford
of Walkertown.
Ushers were James Carethers,
Lester Hairston, and Orlando
Scales, all of Winston-Salem, and
Raphael Hauser of Yadkinville.
The bride is a graduate of Win
ston-Salem State University. She is
employed as a computer analyst/
programmer for Wachovia Bank of
North Carolina.
The groom is currently attend
ing Shaw University's CAPE pro
gram. He is pastor of Beulah Bap
tist Church and lead person at
Thomasville Furniture in
Thomas ville.
The couple will live in Win
ston-Salem.

The Rosebuds Youth Auxiliary of Gamma Phi Delta Sorority and their marshals
Rosebuds presented in 'Petals of Spring'
The Rosebuds youth auxiliary
of Gamma Phi Delta Sorority were
presented on June 6 in their second
Petals of Spring Cotillion at the
Sawtooth Center. Twelve young
ladies and their marshals participat
ed in activities which culminated in
the formal presentation ball. This
year's participants were Dominique
Benson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Donald Benson, and her marshal,
Jiwan Mack; Tara Brayboy, daugh
ter of Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Brayboy,
and her marshal, Douglas Darden;
Crystal Covington, daughter of Mr.
Michael Covington and Ms. Nora
Covington, and her marshal, Curtis
Little; LaShema Funderburk, grand
daughter of. Mrs. Ciesta Funder
burk, and her marshal, Anthony
Johnson; Renee Johnson, daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. Alphonzo Johnson,
and her marshal, Derek Banks;

The group has participated in
activities throughout the year. This
includes essay and autobiographical
writing, dance, cultural, and histori
cal performances and presentations,
arts and crafts, donations to the
Brenner Children's Hospital, and
gifts for the elderly. While prepar

ing for the cotillion, members
attended skin care and make-up ses
sions with Gail Foster of Fashion
Fair cosmetics at Hecht's in Hanes
Mall, an etiquette and social grace
clinic, and a formal dinner at
Michael's Restaurant
This year's officers were
Tenille Richardson, president;
Devan Love, vice president; Renee
Johnson, secretary, Dominique Ben
son, assistant secretary; Tori
Richardson, treasurer, and Crystal
Covington, assistant treasurer.
Tavyn Richardson is the group's
mascot and served a petal bearer.
Other members are India Brim,
Tonya Gentry, and Monika Joyce.
Soror Larnettra Richardson is advi
sor and Soror Ida Michael is co
advisor.
The Rosebuds were officially
established in 1969. Each member
is challenged to achieve their
worthwhile goals, seek cultural
enrichment, achieve higher academ
ic levels through scholastic achieve
ment. Gamma Phi Delta is a sorori
ty of business and professional
women with the purpose of promot
ing better understanding between
women of all races and creeds, fos
tering higher education through
encouragement and financial aid,
promoting cultural enrichment, and
to give service to mankind.
