Sealed proposals will be received by the Lenoir City
Council until 2:00 pm, Tuesday, July 28th, 1992 and
then publidy opened at the Lenoir City Office Coun
cil Room located at 801 West Avenue NW. Lenoir.
NC for construction of an addition to the Martin
Luther King Community Center located at 122
Greenhaven Drive, Lenoir, NC.
Separate proposals will be received for the General
Construction, Plumbing, Mechanical and Electrical
work. All proposals must be submitted on forms pre
pared for this purpose and available from the Archi
tect July 14, 1992.
Plans and specifications covering all divisions of the
work are available at the office of Jefferson Archi
tect, 601 North Cherry Street, Suite 105, Winston
Salem, NC. Three sets of documents may be
obtained upon deposit of One Hundred Dollars
($100) in cash or check. The full deposit will be
returned to those submitting a Bona Fide Bid provid
ed the plans and specifications are returned to the
Architect in good condition within seven (7) days
after the date set for receiving bids.
No proposal will be considered or accepted unless it
is accompanied by a deposit with the Lenoir City
Council of a certified check drawn on a bank or trust
company insured by the Federal Deposit Insurance
Corporation in an amount equal to not less than 5%
of the proposal. In lieu of making a cash deposit as
provided above, such bidder may file a Bid Bond
executed by a corporation surety licensed under the
laws of North Carolina to execute such bonds and
conditioned that the surety will upon demand forth
with make payment to the Obligee upon said bond if
bidder fails to execute a contract in accordance with
the Bid Bond. Said deposit will be retained by the
Owner as liquidated damages in the event of failure
of the successful bidder to execute the Contract
within ten (10) days after award, or fails to give sat
isfactory surety as required by law.
