Pastor Fill
The Needs
Two years ago, the staff at Sun
rise Towers noticed there were
many home-bound residents who
wanted to attend church services.
Audrey Lowery, community service
clerk, discovered a way to meet
their needs.
Lowery began a search for a
full-time minister to deliver an 1 1
a.m. Sunday worship seivieeto give
the Sunrise Tower restcferi^s a Spiri
tual uplift. She contacted he cousin,
Pastor Sarah Hauser.
Pastor Hauser felt that Elder
George Hauser Jr., who loves to
sing the "old timey" hymns and was
already well known by most of the
people at Sunrise Towers, would be
perfect for the task. The "Church at
Sunrise" was born Sunday, Sept.
16, 1990.
He was welcomed with open
arms by Sister Virgie Thompson
(now deceased), who was presi
dent, and Sister Lillie Nicholson,
then vice president of the Tuesday
night prayer service.
Lowery later requested an
evening service. Services are now
held at 1 1 a.m. and 3 p.m. every
third Sunday. All services are open
to the public.
Elder Hauser was born and
reared in the Piney Grove neighbor
hood of Winston-Salem. He is the
son of Marie Almeeta Black Brown
and the late George Hauser Sr. He
has a brother, Ralph Hauser, and a
sister, Johnnie M. Glenn. He attend
ed Kimberly Park School.
He was married to the late Mil
dred Nelson Hauser and has three
sons, Raymond Jones, Gregory
Hauser, and George "Gee" Hauser
III, and two daughters, Deborah
Odom and Janice Faust.
Elder Hauser preached his first
sermon on Nov. 8, 1967 at Kimber
ly Park Holiness Church, where he
was a member for over 35 years.
He was employed at
Thomasville Furniture Company for
over 35 years and is presently
retired.
He married Sarah C. Hauser on
January 3, 1986.

deal of missionary work throughout
the city.
The much celebrated woman is
extremely happy to be in the land of
the living. Three years ago, she suf
fered a massive heart attack that
caused her heart to stop beating. She
often testifies, "The doctors gave
my heart a shock and God started it
to beating again !"
She is well now and thanks
and most of all, free from sin!
The dynamic diamond certainly
has a great deal to thank God for!
She does not look her age and gets
around as well as a 20-year-old. In
addition to that, she has the usage of
all of her bodily organs and limbs,
drives a car and comfortably wears
high heel shoes!
Truly she is a "Jewel of Dis
tinction!"
