Serving as matrons of honor were Gwen Whitmire, sister of the bride, of Winston-Salenk and Sarah Hall of I Winston-Salem and Charlena Grayftf Baltimore, Md., I both sisters of the groom. Bridesmaids weft Tunisia Brooks, daughter of the groom, Ferrica Hrfl, niece of the groom, and Barbara I - Shankle, sister of the groom, all of Winston-Salem. I Best men were Darryl Wright of Winston-Salem i and Lonnie Wright of Philadelphia, Penn., both brothers of the groom. I Groomsmen were Albert Eaton, Jerome Smith, I brother of the bride, and Monta Smith, nephew of the bride, all of Winston-Salem; Calvin Wright, brother of the groom, of Orlando, Fla.; Darry Gray, brother-in-law I of the groom, of Baltimore, Md.; and Mike Jennings, I friend of the groom, of Winston-Salem. The bride is a graduate of R.J. Reynolds High School and attended Miller-Motte Business College. ? The groom is a graduate of North Forsyth High School and is self-employed and works as a special enforcement officer in a security company. Mrs. Licia Wright Northwood ^states Club by Rudolph V. Boone Sr. Special to the Chronicle The Northwood Estates Know Your Neighbor Club recently elected the following officers to begin its term Jan. 1, 1993 Gertrude Murchison, president Sarah J. Boone, secretary; Naomi Jones, treasurer; and Rudolph V. Boone Sr., public relations director. Jones, who is the current presi dent, and Murchison, who is the current secretary and treasurer, will be endihg several years of service. The members decided to give a financial contribution to the West moreland family that was recently burned out of their home and lost three children in the fire. This is going beyond the neighborhood to help those in need. In the past, the group has brought cheer and hope to elderly persons in rest homes with gifts and entertaining pro grams. ? The group will be undertaking two other projects. They will be collecting ttems for the Crisis Control Ministry. People in the neighborhood and beyond may contribute by dropping "Food of the Month" items off at the Carl Russell Recreation Center. The item for November is canned fruit. The club also plans to sponsor a "Reading Room" at the Carl Rus sell Recreation Center. Regular meetings are held at the Carl Russell Center on the fourth Monday of each month at 7 p.m., with a few exceptions. Mem berships are open to all residents in the Northwood Estates community. Wheeler has been pro moted to director, R&D Planning and Administration, Research & Development Department of R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co. She is responsible for directing the efforts of the Scientific Information Divi v sion (computer technology and library), R&D Facilities and Ser- Jj vices Division, and R&D Planning! functions. Wheeler graduated from Hampton University in Hampton, Va., in 1969 with a degree in chem istry and joined RJR Tobacco 23 years ago as a junior research f chemist in R & D. In addition to her job responsi bilities, she is extremely active and busy throughout the community. Wheeler is a member of First Bap tist Church, Highland Avenue, where she serves as assistant church ' clerk.
