Seniors Club Elect ew Officers The \orth Winston-Senior Citizens Club recently held elections for the 1993-94 year. The new officers are Lula jenkins , assistant financial sec retary; \orma L . McDuffie; Polly Howard, president; tola Hopkins , past president; Corina Gynn and Evelyn Hairston , secretary; Henry Banks , treasurer; Christine Sparks, vice president ; Alice Banks, financial secre tary; and Annie Jones , assistant secretary. The club meets every second and fourth Tuesday of the month at the Bethleham Center. The club has sponsored many community programs. They have given Christmas baskets to the elderly and made donations to crisis control and local rest homes. Present president Polly Howard sticks to the club motto; "Where every body is somebody. Dudley Sr.. will be held at Dudley Cosmetology University, 900 E. Mountain St. in Kernersville. Thursday. March 11. from VU) tn ? 8:30 p.m. It was announced this week that Dudley is the 1993 recipient of the Award of Excellence, a national award given annually by Minorities Women In Business magazine, a nationally circulated business-to business news magazine. ' In addition to winning national recognition for his pioneering work in business and community empow erment, Dudley is featured on the coVer of the magazine's Marcfl -issue. Copies of the magazine will be distributed at the event which is expected to attract a host of digni taries from around the county. One of the nation's foremost advocates of minority business development. Dudley's entry into he cosmetic industry began with a ten dollar investment in a Fuller Prod uets Sales Kit. Through hard work and persistence, he has taken Dud ley products from meager begin nings to become a respected giarjt in the beauty industry. The event was a great suc cess, in terms of participants, enjoyment by all and hopefully profitable momentarily. Players from several states converged on the "Capitol Outlet Of The South" and were treated royally.- The guests conveyed many compli ments to the hosts, Twenty-nine W inston-Salem players helped in hosting the tour nament in a number of ways. Those players included: Bessie Allen, Mary Andrews, Rudolph and Sarah Boone, George and Mary Boswell, Pauline Caldwell, Geraldine Cary, Geneva Coleman, Lillie Cuthrell, Sandra Brown, Charles and Irma Gadson, Inez Geralds, Lessie Hatton, Cleester Hickerson, Jean Joyner, Waldo and Marjorie Lester, Monica Lett, Bil lie Matthews, Marsha Rooks, Delores Smith, Harriet Smith, Renita T. Segcrs, Olivia B. Thompkins, Ruby B. Walker, Ruth G,_ Washington, and JuaniM* Wynecoff. Local players played promi nent roles in making the event suc cessful. Billie Matthews(treasurer) handled a successful raffle fundraiser. Olivia Thompkins did a super job in handling all phases of hospitality for guests and mem bers. Inez Geralds did wonders with the new players reception and seminar/game. Rudolph Boone(vice president) coyered the public relations in a notable fash ion. In the Modified Round Robin (Flight D), Bessie Allen and Delores Smith teamed with Arthur Totten and Harold Minus (Gtfeens boro ) to capture first place with six wins out of seven rounds. Rudolph and Sarah Boon* teamed with Olivia Tfompkins and Renita Thompkins-Segers to take second place with five wins out of seven rounds. In the Sunday - morning"Open Pairs'* (Sjjfe Game), Rudolph and Santl Boone placed rfecond overall and fifti!!?# S.
