The Boys Club and Sims Center presented the
action Basketball tournament.
The tournament consist of the midget, junior and
senior groups.
The midget age group was 6-9 years-old . vihieh
included the Lakers. Bulls. MLK (A). MLK <B). Celtics
and the 76 rs.

The senior age group consist of ages 13-15 which
included: Colony Place. Celtics. Crosby s Kimberly
Piedmont, Lakers. Bulls. MLK and Petree.
Martin Luther King Takes Championship
& Playing in the Boys Club and Sims Center champi
^onship Basketball 10-12 year-old Tournament. Martin
Luther King, coached by Collin Morrison, took the
Championship after defeating Crosby's Kimberh - Pied
mont Team 54-48.
Crosby's Kimberly-Piedmont Team took second
place in regular season play and second place in the
tournament.
The first round of the tournament for the Crosby . s
was won by forfeit against the Lakers. The iiame was
scheduled for February 25.
On March 3rd in the second round of play for the
championship Martin Luther King defeated the Crosby's
54-48 giving the Crosbys second place in the tourna
ment.
Garjay Steprey was right on target for MLK hitting
18 points including two*3-pointers and six 2-point bas
kets.
Other players scoring points for MLK were: Collin
Manison-11; Wayne Belcher-nine; Clifford Crawford
eight; Donald McNair-four; and Nathen Belcher and
Brandon Isiah with two points each.
Also playing for MLK were: James Campbell.
Kenyon Elder, Caesar Glover and Monte Stanback.
Marvin Bonner was high scorer for the Crosbys
scoring 16 points, including seven 2-pomters and and
two from the foul line.
Other players scoring points during the game for
the Crosbys were: Deonzo Amos- 13: Ronald Hayes

play and taking first place in the Tournament.
In the first round of the tournament the Crosby's
defeated Colons Place "?4-65 with Ramon McCullum
scoring double figures for the Crosbys hitting 19 points.
McCullum scored 12 of his 19 points in the final quarter
of the game.
Hemy Amos was also on key for the Crosbys with
P points, hitting five 2-pointers in the fourth quarter.
Other team members scoring points for the Crosbys
were: Antwan Harns-15; Teddy Hill- 1 3 : Shantan
McKex -four, and Antonio Waiters. Rickardo Howell
and Kern Waiters hitting two points each.
Also pla>ing for the Crosbys were: Dwaine
Thomas. Brian Nelson, .John Thames. Chns McCurrv
and Phillip Mitchell. High scorer for the game was M.
Morgan playing for the Colony Place with 22 points.
Scoring points for Colony Place were: K. McLean

four; J W alker-four. M. Allen -two; and J. Thompson
one. Also playing on the Colony Place team were: T.

Celtics Defeat Bulls By One Point
Playing in the Boys Club and Sims Center Tourna
ment Championship Basketball Tournament for 6-9
year-old. the Celtics defeated the Bulls 23-22 in a power
struggling to the finish basketball game. Charles Ben
nett scored 1 1 points for the Celtics, and Marco Owens
scored 15 points for the Bulls, with Severus Hicks hit
ting sin points. According to James Smith. Director of
the Boys Club. "The primary factor for the whole league
is Education First and Athletics Second' which advisors
