St. John Hosts Conference The Winston-Salem/Greenville District Conference of the Carolina Annual Conference of the Christian Methodist Episcopal Church will hold its annual meeting at St. John CME Church April 1-3. Butler Receives Honor from General Baptist State Convention J. Ray Butler has been recog nized as one who has for years served as a missions proponent. The Executive Committee and General Board of the General Bap tist State Convention of North Car olina Inc. voted to honor Butler as an outstanding missions exponent. The body applauded Butler for having previously chaired the Gen eral Board of the GBSC for 23 con secutive years without missing a session. His name and portrait of honor will be permanently docu mented in the 'organization's archives. Butler's involvement with the GBSC is extensive. In addition to chairman, he also has served as vice president-at-large of the GBSC and as moderator of the Rowan Associa tion from 1988-1992. Butler has preached on the National Baptist J. Kay Butler Convention USA Inc. programs in Fort Worth, Texas, St. Louis, Mo. and New Orleans, La.
