A&T NCCU Series Will Continue
The Chancellors of A&T State
University and North Carolina Cen
tral University announced today that
the historic football game between
the two universities will be contin
ued in 1994-95.
In a joint statement. Chancellor
Edward B. Fort of A&T, and Chan
cellor Juliu.N Chambers of NCCU
said:
"We are pleased to announce
that we expect the classic too thai1
series between NC A&T State Uni
versity and NC Central University
to resume in the 1994 football sea
son. We have directed the athletic
directors at both universities to com
plete arrangements for the 1 994 and
1995 games. Both of us are confi
dent that an amicable agreement
between our two institutions will be
reached so that this historic and
highly-spirited rivalry can be pre
sers ed.
For a \ aricty ol reasons, negoti
ations tor this years game between
the two institutions broke down, and
ultimately both teams were forced
to fill the open date in their sched
ules. making it impossible to play in
1993.
Hampton Wins CIAA Tennis Title
Hampton University kept it's
dominance of CIAA tennis with a
6-0 win over Norfolk State on April
17, at the HU Tennis Stadium.
? This was Hampton's third
? straight title and their 20th CIAA
title since 1969. this was also the
first year of the intercollegiate ten
nis competition for second place
Norfolk State.

In the semi-finals of the dou
ble elimination tournament, the
PiT&tes defeated St. Augustine's 5-"*
0. and St. Augustine's then defeated
Shaw 8-4 to reach the champi
onship game.
Lady Pirate senior catcher,
Tonia Glmyph was named tourna
ment MVP as she continuously
came up with the big hits. In the -
semi-finals and finals combined,
she finished with six RBI's and
three hits.
The tournament win upped the
Lady Pirates record to 24-5 for the
year.

The premier charitable celebri
ty golfing event at Bermuda Run
Country Club in Clemmons will be
held June 3-6.
The 1993 purse, distributed to a
variety of charitable organizations,
is SI. 5 million, and is focused on
efforts on drug education and abuse
prevention. Winners designate their
share of the purse to non-profit
organizations of their choice.
A large list of celebrities are
scheduled to appear at the tourna
ment including: Smokey Robinson,
Pat Boone. Boomer Esiason, Julius
Erving. Night Train Lane, Charley
Pride and numerous other entertain
ment. governmental and sports fig
ures. Bob Hope plans to be at the
tournament to celebrate his 90th
birthday. - ?

spectator parking areas at Tangle
wood Park, with bus service provid
ed to Bermuda Run Country Club.
