Proceeds from the awards cere mony also benefit the United States Olympic Committee. U.S.A. Men's National Volleyball Team to Play in Winston- Salem The United States' Men's National Volleyball vs Brazil team will hold a match in Winston Salem as part of a four-city Stars and Spikes volleyball tour. Other cities included in the tour are Richmond, Va. on Aug. 31; Charleston, S.C. on Sept 3; and Augusta, Ga. on Sept 4. The team will play in Winston Salem on Sept. 1 at the Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum at 7:30 p.m. Coach Fred Sturm and the U.S. team are coming off a 2b-5 1 season highlighted by a third consecutive Olympic medal (bronze in 1992). 1992 Olympians and 1993 World All-Stars Bryan Ivie and Bob Samuelson lead the U.S. team. The U.S. holds a 34-25 edge over Brazil since 1983, including a win in the gold medal match at the 1984 Olympics. In the last year, Brazil has dominated, holding a 5-0 edge, including four wins over the Americans in 1993 and another vic tory in the semifinals at Barcelona last summer. Mills Represents Tomorrow's Bowling Pro The North Carolina American Bowling Alliance held its 28th annual bowling tournament this summer, with a team from North - side Lanes, the Northside Eagles, Team No. 1) winning the B Divi sion. The team is made up of captain and anchor Lamar Mills, Bonnie Keen, Tara Shelton, Tasha Keiger and Brian McGee. Winning championships in both the handicap and scratch divi sion, Mills has been bowling since he was 4 years old and will begin his ninth season this fall. Mills has won numerous awards and trophies and has been ? 1 Lamar Mills ? named Bowler of the Week several times. He also competes on a travel league with his regular teammates. They have also won the champi onship in their division for North side Lanes in the 1991-92 season and finished third overall in 1992 93. Mills hopes to improve on his average of 158 and to compete in the Junior Bowlers Scratch Associa tion. Thirteen-year-old Mills attends Paisley Middle School, He is coached by his grandfather, James Harper.
