Brooks, pastor of Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Greens boro, will be the evangelist for the week. Brooks received a bachelor of science degree from North Carolina A&T State University and a master of divinity degree from Shaw Divinity School. He is currently a doctoral candidate in gerontology at Lancaster Theological Seminary in Rev. George W. Brooks Lancaster, Pa. Brooks is a board member at Moses Cone Memorial Hospital, Greensboro National Bank, the United Way, the Greensboro Cham ber of Commerce, the Greensboro Housing Authority and the Guilford County AIDS Task Force. Brooks is also a member of the Greensboro Education and Devel opment Council, the United Negro College Fund, the Greensboro Pul pit Forum and Greensboro Minis ters. The Rev. Home was Hon* orcri rrcemly during morning wor ship at Mt Zion Baptist Church for her years of missionary service at -the church, in the state and national Baptist conventions and the Lott Carey Foreign Mission iry Conven tion. Minnie S. Jones, president of the Missionary Department, read the citation detailing Home's services. Jones also presented Home with a dozen red roses on behalf of the department Home received special training in missionary work at Shaw Univer sity. She has served 28 years as president and executive secretary treasurer of the Women's Baptist State Convention. Berthenia D. Home During her years of service^ Home has organized the Youth and Young Adult Missionary depart ments, been named a lifetime mem ber of the Board of Directors of the Baptist State Convention and been awarded an Honorary Doctor of Humane Letters degree from Shaw University. Home also was crowned "Qjueen of the Nation" by the National Women's Convention, USA, for elevating North Carolina to the highest stewardship state in the nation. She also has made several trips to Africa to encourage students to attend universities in the United States. She has served as chairper son of the Executive Committee of the Lott Carey Foreign Missionary Convention. Goodwill Baptist Church will celebrate its gnnual homecoming this Sunday with two services. The Rev. P.A. Samuels will deliver the 1 1 a.m. message. The Rev. Steve Carlton, pastor of New Smith Grove Baptist Church in Lexington, will deliver the 3 p.m. service.
