By DAVID L. DILLARD Chronicle Staff Writer This past summer was one of the dead liest in the city's history. And in all likeli hood, the summer violence will cause the city to set a record for homicides. Last week's shooting death of 28-year old Van Johnson, of 5205 Oakridge Court masked the city's 30th homicide this year. By this time last year, only 28 homicides had been committed in the city. At this rate, the city will likely pass last year's total of 33. Johnson was shot around midnight Thursday while visiting a female friend, Police Lt. Larry Revis said. Three menf forced their way into her home at 2814 Man Chester St. and shot him to death while the female friend and her son watched in horror. Neighbors in the community say they are living in fear.
