CIAA MEN'S ROUNDUP ' % . . i <? , ? y ? ??? ? ' N.C. Central Clinches Southern Title* North Carolina Central clinched the CIAA Southern Divi sion by routing Livingstone 104-60 and beating Johnson C. Smith 82 71. Five players scored in double figures against Livingstone, led by guard Levelle Moton's 16 points. /The Eagles have actually clinched a tie for the tide, but have beaten rivals Johnson C. Smith and Fayetteville State in head-to-Tiead games. Virginia Union won all three of its gan\s last week, defeating Virginia State, 102-64; St. Augustine's, 106^53; and Norfolk State 86-73. The Panthers have moved into a first-place tie wjth .. Elizabeth City State in the Northern Divfsion. thanks to CIAA Player of the Week Warren Peebles. Peebles had 66 points and dished out ,23 assists, i/icluding 12 against St. Augustine's. Troy Phillips added 45 point* while pulling down 26 rebounds. ~ Elizabeth City State had its ' third straight undefeated week, defeating St. Paul's 85-73; Bowie* State 92-75; and Virginia Slate 93 84. Senior guard Shawn Walker scored 66 points during the week, including 1 1 three-point baskets. Nate Higgs had 61 points and 27 rebounds for ECSU. highlighted by a 8-for-9 performance against Bowie. Maurice Barnett had 41 points and an impressive 26 blocks during the week. Fayettevijle State moved behind Central in the Southern Division bv defeating Livingstone 83-71 and edging Shaw 96-95. VSU shot 69 per cent versus Norfolk and posted a 50-29 halftime lead. The Tro janettes were led by Kathleen Davis' 23 points against Norfolk and Kendra White scored 66 points in the three games. St. Augustine's won both of its games last week, defeating N. C. Central 86-68 and Virginia Union 79-69. Denise Holden led the Ladv ?
