WSSU's SGA President to Speak for Youth Day J oe lie Davis, president of the student government Association of Winston-Salem Stale University, will be the keynote speaker at the annual Youth/Young Adult Day of Nevs Bethel Baptist Church at 1016 North Trade Street. The observance will be held on Sunday, March 13 at 1 1 a.m. The youth have chosen as their theme; Youth Embracing Their Spiritual and Cultural Her itage To End Crime and Violence." The youth and youth adults of New Bethel will take charge of ser vices beginning with the Sunday School hour at 9:30 a.m. Youths will be teacher in all the Sunday School classes. , Davis is a native of Oxford and a junior Education Major at WSSU with the goal of becoming a middle school teacher. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Davis. She has been actively involved at the university since her freshman year. She has been president of both the freshman and sophomore classes, a member of the volleyball and the softball teams and a member of the illustrious Gamma Phi Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta, Inc. ? t Joelle has participated in many oratorical contest, either winning or placing in most of them. In fact, public speaking has become some what a leisure time activity. She dynamically captivated her audience at a Rainbow Tea at New Bethel in October of 93. Because of the rele vance and appropriateness of her message then, she was invited back for this Youth/Young Adult Day Observance. She seems to have her finger on the pulse of the many problems facing the Black Commu nity. Jamall Mack has been named Youth/Young Adult Chairperson and will share the rostrum with Davis. Mack, the son of Mr. and Mrs. James Mack, is an East Forsyth High School graduate who went on to further his education at UNC-G. He received a Bachelor of Science Degree in finance in 1989. He also earned a Master's of Busi ness Administration from UNC-G in 1992. He is currently employed by Sears Roebuck in the Collections Department. Mack is an active youth adult at New Bethel participating in the sun Joe lie Davis day school. BTU, Senior Choir and tjie Youth Council. He will briefly' introduce the year's theme. Zion Church and Phillips Chapel Baptist Church, Benson, is a classical pianist, and serves as music directive at North Winston Baptist - Church and Zion Tabernacle F.B.H. Church. She is also music instructor at Bensons Musical Studio. Ben jamin, a classical pianist and bari-~ tone soloist is minister of music at Antioch Christian Church, former music director at New St. Paul Bap tist Church and b music instructor at the Urban League. Glover who is~a dedicated Gospel singer, and her husband Earl Glover reside at 341 1 Old Vineyard Rd. in Winston-Salem.
