Annual Fellowship Banquet to be Held The Sister of the James H, Young Memorial Chapter No. $92 Order of the Eastern Star P.H.A. of N.C. will host its annual fellowship banquet on Saturday at 6 p.m. at the Albert H. Anderson Center at Win ston-Salem State University ? The Rev. Robert L. McGowens Sr., pastor of Galilee Missionary Baptist Church, will be the banquet speaker. He, studied at the Morris College School of Religion in Greenville, S.C. He graduated from Columbia Bible College in Colum bia, -S^T-He^iad done further study at the Lutheran Theological Semi nary, the University of South Car olina in Columbia, S.C., Furman University in Greenville and Ander-_ son College in Anderson, S.C. McGowens is a member of the Mt. Sinai Baptist Church of Greenville, S.C. He is a member of the General Baptist State Convention of North Carolina, the National Baptist Con gress and Convention of U.S.A. Re v. Robert L. McGowens Sr. Inc.. Baptist minister Fellowship of Gre e nville .SC., Fo rsyt h Cou n t y Ministers Conference and the Pro gressive National Baptist Convention. Alderman Jocelyn Johnson will brir.j greetings. Peggy Knox will serve as mistress of ceremonies. Recognitions will be by Grand District Deputy Lam Di 1 lard and J Martha Jones District Deputy Grand Master James Paul. Special presentations and awards will be by: Martha G. Jones, Cornell O'Neal Jr., Joyce Durham and I. Monroe Falls. Musical selections will be by the Rev. John Heath and Lucy Boykins and accompanists Walteria Spauling and Wallace Wright. Grace Church to Observe 87th Anniversary ?Grace Presbyterian Churchr 3901 Carver School Road, will observe its 87th anniversary Friday through Sunday. The special events are a Youth Revival Service on Friday at 7 p.m. with the Revr Starling Churn as guest speaker. At 9 a.m. Saturday, there will be a day of Christian edu cation workshops. On Sunday, Sun day. church school begins at 9:30 a.m. followed by the renewal of baptism and the morning worship at 11 a.m. The anniversary dinner will fol low the service. The Rev. Samuel Stevenson is pastor. I Church to Conduct Series of Workshops All the choirs at Union Baptist Church were involved in a week long music workshop conducted by Minister Daniel Mario Cason II from May 9-13. The workshop cul minated wittra musical performance on May 14. Cason is an ordained minister and concert pianist who is also a featured musician an clinician at the Gospel Music Workshop of Ameri ca, the National Convention of Gospel Choirs and Choruses and the International Worship Congress. He has conducted numerous workshops and seminars throughout America as( well as touring in Russia. In Febru-^ ary 1993. he performed on many of the /'Great Church Organs" of Europe and gave a performance for Pope John Paul II at the Vatican in Rome. Members who participated were taught, as well as inspired, through Carson's workshop. The Rev. Dwight Bryant,' the minister of music at Union Baptist Church, ini tiated this event three months before to provide his choir participants the musical experience for praise and worship services. I ?. The Union Baptist Congrega tion also was given highlights. of the concert during the 1 1 a.m. service on May 15.
