WSSU Can Not Afford =j WSSl' athletic department on sev eral occasions, but is seems as though they are content. They say that there is no need to expand to other sports because they can't fill up Bowman Gray Stadium for foot ball or the C.E. Gaines complex for basketball. They seem to think that one w ill feed off of the other. They are dead wrong. The WSSl' campus is less than a mile away from Reynolds Park Golf Course. Many of the WSSU alumni are superb golfers and would defi nitely be interested in lending some tutoring and training. As easily as they solicited sponsors for one tour nament. imagine what thev could get for a program. Conjuring up the antiquated excuse's of being lowly budgeted, ?black and because we're a CIAA program will not hold water. Golfers are also poor and mid dle-class. black and Hispanic, ath letic and disabled, women and chil dren, and living in'.all sort of arrangements. Golf, has also became one of the biggest attributes for young black males seeking status in this from page 15 Complex job market. Golf teaches you etiquette and business mannerisms. It allows you to utilize creative social acumen. WSSU can no afford to not have a golf program. In my experience, the more outlandish the excuse the more like ly it is to be authentic.
