Reid Carlton Pearson Church to Host 90th Year Conference More than 5,000 people are expected to attend the 90th Annual General Assembly arid Church Growth Conference August 8th - 12th at the M.C. Benton Convention Center. Sponsored by the Church of God Apostolic, the conferencfe, hosted by the Rev. and Mrs. J.C. Hash and the St. Peter's World Out reach Center, will feature interna tionally known speakers, musical artists , workshops, children's and * youth Crusades, and a 100-voice choir. Brown-Myers Cynthia Myers became the bride of Samuel E. Brown in a 5 p.m. ceremony on July 23 in First Calvary Baptist Church. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James E. Myers. Ring Bearer was William D. Calhoun. The bride is a native of Winston-Salem, she graduated from R.j. Reynolds High School in June 1 98 1 . She later joined the Army and toured vari ous places end ing her tour at Baumholder, West Germany in 1984.' After wards ? she remained in Germany until 1986. and returned to the states to McGuire A.F.B. New Jersey. She returned home in 1987 and is presently working at National Health Laboratories. The bride groom is a pative of Win ston-Salem, he graduated from West Forsyth High School. From there he went into the Air Force toured various places ending his tour of duty at McGuire A.F.B. New Jersey in 1988. He then returned home and is now a truck driver contracted for Schneider Cynthia Myers National of Charlotte. Council of the Africafi Methodist Episcopal Zion Church will meet July 27-30. These two A Successful Crusade Abundant Life Crusade, spon sored by Goler Memorial A.M.E. Zion Church at the Cleveland Avenue Homes was a great success. - At the Crusade, which was held July 17-21, fourteen people gave their, lives to Christ and 13 families became a part of the Praying Family Network. This brings to total, 75 pray together in their homes every v ay. The goal is .to recruit 1,000 families to join the Network by November, 1994. The next Abun dant Life Crusade will be held in the Fairchild Home Development, August 28-September 1. Participating in the Crusade with Goler Memorial will be Bishop L. V. Stennis. Christian Charismatic Methodist Churchand ?the Rev. Charles Leake. Solid Rock Baptist Church.The public is asked to be in prayers for the Crusades. Goler Memorial is located at 630 N. In Winston-Salem, Goler Metropolitan A.M.E. Zion Church, 1435 East 4th St., whose pastor is the Rev. James M. Sloan, and the Adam's Mark Hotel will serve as headquarters for the 4-day meeting. Powell is a graduate of the University of North Carolina ' at Charlotte, Duke University Divinity School, and the North Car olina Central University School of Law. He is a distinguished preacher and recognized ecumenicist. He has represented his denomination nationally and internationally, including participation in the National Council of Churches of Christ in the U.S.A., the World Council of Churches, and the Con sultation of Church Union. Ecumenical relations seeks to make more visible the unity of the Church of Jesus Christ. This i$ done through conversation and coopera tion with other Christian denomina tions and communions to the end that all will be strengthened for effective mission.
