African-American officers lead the way in recent merit pro motions in the Forsy.th County I Sheriffs Department. 1 Last week, Sheriff Ron Barker announced five promotions in the department and four of those were black. I "Jhese officers, have been determined as good leaders and they are quali fied for supervisory posi tions," Barker said. : "They interact well with thp pnhlir nthpr officers and I think that's impor tant."
