Eva Johnson to Speak at St. Stephens Missionary Day Service Sunday ' Eva H. Johnson, Immediate Past President of the Woman's State Convention, will speak at the 1 1 a>m. worship service at St. Stephen Missionary Baptist Church in observance of Mis sionary Day, Sunday, April 30. ..Johnson holds a Bachelor's degree in Education from St. Paul's Polytechnic Institute; a Master's degree from N.C. Cen tral with further studies at Howard University and Virginia Union. She is a retired educator of Rowan County with over 30 years tenure. She is a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority and Order of East ern Star. Johnson, is a member of Mt. Eva H. Johnson Zion Baptist Church in Salisbury and widow of the late Rev. Samuel R. Johnson, Jr., the for mer pastor. At Mt. Zion, she has served in marly capacities including Sunday school teacher and youth supervisor. She has held office in the Rowan County Missionary Union and Rowan Baptist Association, she now serves in Lott Carey and Nation al Baptist Conventions. As an instructor, she conducts work shops and institutes for religious organizations county, state, and nationwide. Johnson serves on various civic organizations and college boards. Johnson is a writer of pageants, articles, editorials and speeches. Her unshakeable love for God and people keep her busy working for the Master to reach those in need of physical, spiritu al and moral strength. She says, "Tough tiijies never last, but tough people do." I, Missionary Day Observance will be continued at St. Stephen with an afternoon Musical Tea at 4 p.m. sponsored by the Easter, Ruth and Shaw groups. Chair persons of^ these groups are: Lil i lie Robinson, Thcima Campbell, and Shirley Jackson. Musical tal ent from St. Stephen and area churches will be featured, the public is cordially invited to attend both services. Ministers Conference to Celebrate 65th Anniversary The Baptist Ministers' Con ference of WinstfSi-Salem, wiU be celebrating its 65th anniver sary on Monday, May 1, with service beginning at 7 p.m. at Galilee Baptist Church, located at 575 Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive, will be the host church. The host pastor is Rev. Robert McGowens. The Rev. Clifton Jones, president of the General Baptist State Convention of North Car olina and the Lott Carey Foreign Missionary Convention will be the special guest speaker. The longest active pastor of the Rowan, High Point, Guilford Missionary Society to Present Drama The Missionary Society of St. John Christian Methodist Episcopal Church will present "Empowered Missionary Women In Dramatization and Song," on Sunday, April 30, at 4 P*m. 1 Presidents of the Connec tional Missionary Council of the Christian Methodist Episcopal Church and local Missionary Presidents of St. John will be portrayed by members of the society during the dramatization. Yvonne Willis will serve as guest narrator. Noted Gospel Singer, Rev. John Heath, Pastor of Higher Grounds Deliverance ? * x ~?A Jfl Tabernacle will be the featured guest soloist and Kevin Parrott, Minister of Music for St. Peters World Outreach Center, will serve as guest musician. This event is being spear headed by Fannie Williams and Zilla Brown, member of the St. John local Missionary Society. Dinah Pettigrew is St. John's Missionary President. Myrick will be celebrating his 24th Anniversary with New Jerusalem Baptist Church on April 29, at 5 p.m. The guest speaker will be the Rev.
