MEAC Men's 1996-97 All-Conference Basketball The 1996-1997 All-MEAC Men's Team is headed up by conference Player of the Year. Roderick "Moo Moo" Blakney from South Carolina State. Blakney. a 5-10 junior guard from Hartsville. S.C. led The Bulldogs to a third place finish the league and an 11-6 record. His 23.1 points per contest were tops in the MEAC, and ranks him ninth among all NCAA Division I players. Blakney is joined on this year's All-Conference team by superb tan dem from Coppin State. Junior guard. Antione Brockington, and Senior Forward/Center, the only repeat All Conference selection, Terquin Mott, led Coppin to an impressive 13-3 mark in league play and the conference reg ular season title. The All-MEAC Women's team is a showcase for Howard University's "Big 3". Amanda Hayes, Alisha Hill, and Denique Graves led the Lady Bisons through the regular season without a loss, becoming only the sec ond team in league history to complete that feat. Hayes garnered Player of the Year honors, being among league lead ers in 6 statical categories including: assists (1st), scoring (6th), rebounding (8th), steals (10th), free throw shoot ing (11th), and 3 point shooting (13th). Joining the Howard trio is the leagues scoring leader, NC A&T's Latania Mclntyre Her 19.3 points per game were 3.1 points higher than her nearest competitor. t fc.
